Or the hurricanes that come in like Irma, even though I lived on Miami beach all my life I felt much safer being away from the beach which my family did at one point, but the rent was very high so we had to move to a cheaper apartment which was closer to the beach. Blueland" produced by Miguel Astudillo and written by Sage Lenier, Miguel Astudillo, Sam Pearse, Michael O’Heaney. The video is about how a Blueland company designed a cleaning product without the use of plastic, as a lot of cleaning products are usually in a plastic container that keeps the liquid in but the container causes a lot of waste from creating the container to throwing it away. What I realize is that most of the cleaning products are mainly water with some diluted solution, which shocked me but is also a rip-off as you're paying for water with some solution in it. The company created a product where the solution tablet is dehydrated, meaning you just need to add water, which eliminates buying and throwing away the plastic bottle, reusing the bottles you have at home, and is cheaper as you're buying the solution itself. It spoke to me as the issue where are facing today is single-use plastic and how much waste it produces, ever since it was created it's almost impossible to get rid of them or to think of a world without them, but it is possible from companies creating ways to lessen the waste, and those ways are mainly old ways such as dry tablets, bringing your bags or bottles, etc. I hope there are ways of solving other single-used plastics as cleaning products is not the only one.

Not to mention that there are an estimated 10 million tons of plastic that end up in the ocean each year, which not only affect the animals in the water but also the people who live by it and eat it. I also didn't know that the hair in your ears is like grass, it'll bounce back after breaks of loud noises, but too much will lead it to break and die. As someone who lives in the city, noise and loud one are a constant, so much so that it affects me badly where I would get headaches, nausea, and just not do well until reaching home, it comes to a point where I would walk around with headphones not plugged in just to lessen the noise or not even go out at all due to the noise. It would have been interesting if the video mention the physical and emotional affect of constant loud noise, as it can take a toll on you such as making you feel grouchy/groggy, quick to anger, nausea, fatigue, headaches, and many more from my experience. Everyone should have the right to peace and quiet and it shouldn't be a privilege in this day of age.

But this class took me by surprise, it was interesting, and fun to learn about, and most importantly I learned and understand a couple of new things that were not from boring PowerPoint or reading a wall of paragraphs in a textbook.

I enjoyed this class from a learning aspect, as we get to watch videos on environmental issues of all kinds, global warming, different types of energy and why coal is still being used for energy, how plastic is harming the environment, how global warming is affecting housing, and many more. I learned a lot more than I thought as I thought we'll just cover global warming and that is it, but no we cover a lot more than that even learning about the things that global warming affects that I didn't know about. 

I also liked how we get to build our padlet portfolio as it helped me remember the information that I wrote down, things that I learned about if I need a refresh, and my progress/confidence levels of writing certain topics. It's nice that I can keep the information long after this class is over as they're useful and important information. While I'm not a fan of presenting in class, I don't mind it as I know it'll help me be more comfortable presenting in the future and there is no way to avoid that so might as well just get it over with rather than avoiding it.

The last thing is that I like how we are doing different things in each class time, it's not the same thing all the time such as different topics for videos than writing what we learn/what we think, researching about something, and then writing about it, doing short quizzes, group quizzes which I never experienced before. And what I appreciate is there is no homework as we do plenty of classwork as it is, making it not necessary for any homework. And the classwork helps to grab my attention and focus rather than just listening and getting distracted.

Overall, I felt I learned a lot from this class about the environment, the assignments helped me understand why we still have certain issues in environmental aspects, and how the things we do can harm the environment. It is something that I missed from science which is the joy of learning something and writing about it. And it changed me as again I learned a lot and will be more aware of the consequences of my action, and just being aware in general of what I support, what I buy, etc.
