In the story of The Fall Of The House Of Usher, Edgar used distinct descriptions which express the supernatural events in the plot. For example "it appeared to me that, from some very remote portion of the mansion, there came, indistinctly, to my ears... the echo of very cracking and ripping sound.... beyond the doubt, the coincidence alone which had arrested my attention..." this expresses the bizarre events that is happening around the house giving the story a disturbing side.(332)

“- it appeared to me that, from some very remote portion of the mansion, there came, indistinctly, to my ears, what might have been, in its exact similarity of character, the echo of the very cracking and ripping sound which Sir Launcelot had so particularly described.” (331)
The quote describe how mysteriously the house is by giving a point of view of one character. This character use his sense of hearing to describe the nature of the house by using words such as 'cracking' or 'ripping'. By using those words, it could often explain a scary scene, however, the character does't seem to be afraid. It's a sound that came to his ears momentarily.

“But the under surfaces of the huge masses of agitated vapor, as well as all terrestrial objects immediately around us, were glowing in the unnatural light of a faintly luminous and distinctly visible gaseous exhalation which hung about and enshrouded the mansion.” (331) With aesthetic word like an artist, the narrator used words such as 'masses' , ' glowing'', or 'luminous' to describe his imagination of a scary mansion.

In the beginning of the passage the narrator is in his room when Usher bursts in. He begins yelling and opens a window amid the storm, letting in powerful winds that start blowing everything a lot. The narrator tries to calm him down, sitting him down and closing the window. He picks up a novel and begins reading it. It is about a hero who defeats a dragon. The book was actually made up specifically for the story. A peculiar thing begins to happen as He reads the story.

As he begins to read the story he hears weird noises from downstairs that seem to sync up with the sounds he reads from the book. He finds this odd but continues nonetheless. Eventually the narrator went to Usher out of fear of the sounds and Usher was talking. Usher started going on about how he dare not say of the sounds he was hearing, how he had been hearing the sounds for days. Usher then relays that they buried her alive, and now, she was coming back for Usher. He knew she was at the door, and as the door opened, it revealed the ghost of the lady Madeline of Usher. She had blood on her robes and signs of struggle all about her. She fell onto Usher and he fell to the ground, a corpse. The Narrator rushed from the room and away from the house, he got away as fast as he could. The house was torn apart behind him and collapsed, marking the fall of the house of Usher.
