Power comes into play by leading to a man who believes he can do what he wants in spite of jealousy, and a woman who ultimately gets herself killed to stand up for herself. It corrupts the father into believing he is better than the kids and that his business is more important than watching his kids. The girl has some kind of rebellion in her to finally fight back against her fiancee.

Power in this story is more-so expressed through the character of Icarus. He got absorbed into the power of his freedom, ending up in him getting greedy and accidentally drowning himself. " He longed for one draught of flight to quench his thirst of his captivity." Daedalus was powerful in the sense that he was smart, and it was helpful until it became a source of fear for others, thinking he would be smart enough to overthrow them. Even ending up with his own son dead. Power, even without wanting it to, can lead to problems and fear with others, genius included in the dangerous power.

Power does not last forever. As a matter of fact, it can possibly lead to your own downfall. The character of Ozymandias with his statement of being "King of Kings" shows that he believes he is the most powerful. Assuming he is, it's clear he didn't last forever, as a statue of his is described of just sitting in the desert, with nothing to support the claim of power.

Power here is used in a betrayal sense. People who get hurt by others will sometimes do things to hurt others. The wife felt betrayed by her husband, and in the end decided to kill him, betraying him in the process. She used her power (or more so the lambs) and her anger, confusion, and denial to take out the problem she had.

They trick a man into giving them their pig and then try to get revenge when he tricks them.

Power is used by Macbeth to obtain a higher social status, in this case, becoming the king. He kills Duncan and Macduff's family to make sure that the family crown is kept. He used the power to get this high, but unfortunately for him, he eventually went mad. He lost sense of what was right and what was wrong, and failed to stay happy in his position. He eventually had his wife take her life, people's opinion of him fell, and he was slain by Macduff.

Power Leading to Corruption

Power within all of these stories has shown that people can, and will, use power to their advantage. All of these stories had someone feel powerful, obtain some form of glory or strength, may it have been wings, the ability to trick and persuade, or be promised the crown of a kingdom, and use it to feel even more powerful than before. They feel like they are invincible, like they can't be taken down. However, their greed ultimately ensues them, and fate decides to have it's turn and bite them back. For many, it would eventually end in death. Macbeth was slain by Macduff, leading to his reign ending. While power itself is not inherently evil, many characters and people used it to gain some sort of edge on their enemy, but failed because they got cocky, arrogant, and misjudged their opponent.
