-There is supposed to be a septum down the middle which is suppose to divide the the heart into two halves, with one half including right atrium and right ventricle while the other holds the left ventricle and left atrium but the septum is not there causing the deoxygenated blood and the oxygenated blood to diffuse together which results in the oxygen levels in the blood being similar but the right arteries still transport the blood to the lungs while the left arteries transports the blood to all parts of the body,With the oxygen levels being similar, the blood transported to the lungs have more oxygen then needed while the oxygen in the blood being transported to all parts of the body have lesser oxygen than needed so the body will not be able to function properly without enough oxygen.

With this in mind, both oxygenated and de-oxygenated blood will be able to enter the arteries that were not meant for them, causing more de-oxygenated blood to enter the artery transporting blood to all body cells, allowing lesser oxygen to be used for respiration for body cells as lesser oxygen is being transported to them, reducing blood transport efficiency. [GOOD] More oxygenated blood will be able to enter the artery transporting blood to the lungs, so lesser oxygen will be diffused into the cells as there are cells that are already oxygenated, further reducing the blood transport efficiency. [good application on oxygen concentration/ diffusion gradient]

It reduces efficiency as when the heart shares a common valve oxygenated blood and not oxygenated blood mix together and due to this, both blood with different concentrations of oxygen would go to different parts of the human body where either 1 of the different concentrated blood is not needed which decreases efficiency which means that muscles would not receive sufficient oxygen to carry out vigorous activities and for the lungs, lesser blood cells would receive oxygen from the lungs as there would be oxygenated blood at the lungs that came from the heart which would be redundant.
