WHAT THEY HAVE DONE

: In 1969, 4000 prisoners had been adopted and half had been released since the founding of the organization. It won a Nobel prize in 1977, and a UN Human Rights Award in 1978. Campaign in 1999 drew attention to 300,000 child soldiers around the world. Also, campaign in 2006 was against internet repression and in 2007, 133 countries abolished death penalty law.
Other than those efforts, Amnesty International has done numerous campaigns to guarantee human rights for people whether they are immigrants, refugees, or the poor. As the biggest organization working for human rights, Amnesty has helped at least 150 countries and territories with more than 10 million members.

Founder of AI(Amnesty International), Benenson was outraged when two Portuguese students were jailed just for raising a toast to freedom. He wrote an article "Forgotten prisoners" on a news paper.
