The artist says "even when you're at the itty bitty end of the rope, jump up and join again." The message in the song of never giving up and believing in yourself when nobody else does, shows and tells the audience that you are strong enough to do what you believe in when nobody else has hope in the plan that you have. I chose this book because it shows how even though nobody in his family believed in the carrot seed, he still believed it would grow. In The Carrot Seed the boys mom, dad, and brother all told the boy "I'm afraid it won't come up" but that never stopped the boy from believing in the tiny seed. The little boy from The Carrot Seed and Summer from The Cellar both share the fact that everybody did not have hope in what they personally thought, but they both never gave up hope, causing their hopes to become reality.
