The first memory that Jonas receives is the memory of snow, the cold, and a snow ride. This is the best title for the book because almost everyone in the community is given something. For example, when you turn one, at the Ceremony of One, you get named and you get a family. At the Ceremony of Nine, when you turn nine, you are given a bike so you can travel around the community on a bicycle. At the Ceremony of Twelve when you turn twelve, you are given and assigned an assignment and a job and you turn into an adult.
