I am İlayda. I am 15 years old. I am a 9th-grade student at Hadi Kutlu Vocational and Technical High School. I study in the Fashion Design department. I am from Şanlıurfa. Şanlıurfa is a very hot city. In summer, the temperature can reach up to 60 degrees. Our food is very famous and delicious. Most of our dishes are spicy. Kebabs, liver dishes, and çiğ köfte are some of our most delicious meals.

I have 3 siblings: 1 sister and 2 brothers. I am the youngest. My mother is 38 years old and a housewife. My father is 40 years old and works as a baker.

In the future, I want to become an English teacher. That’s why I believe projects like this will help me improve my English.

This project is about superstitions in our culture. In our culture, we have many unique superstitions. For example, we believe that opening an umbrella indoors brings bad luck. We also believe that if I hand scissors directly to someone, it means we will get into a fight.

There is a library, robotics, coding, informatics class and laboratory classes. My favorite thing is to study in those classes. I also love my teachers and friends. Also, there are many places to visit in the city I live in. I love visiting these places. The people living in the city I live in are also very good people. The things I do in my spare time are listening to music, cooking and cooking. Watching TV series, I want to be a doctor one day, that is the profession that reflects me. I think because I like being interested in the human body and biology.

I try to play the piano in my free time, but I'm not very good. I have a small family and two siblings. I want to be a doctor when I grow up. I don't believe in superstitions because I think it's ridiculous For example, those who believe that black cats bring bad luck believe that their day will be negative when they see a black cat, but cats are not even aware of such a situation, they are innocent creatures, you should not think like that.

Summers in Şanlıurfa are dry and hot, while winters are rainy. It is a touristic city. We have places like Göbeklitepe and Balıklıgöl. Şanlıurfa is famous for its spicy peppers. In our culture, we have various superstitions. For example, we wear an evil eye bead to protect us from bad luck. When we see a black cat outside, we hold our hair until it disappears from sight, otherwise, it is believed to bring bad luck.

The reason I joined this project is to share these superstitions with friends from different cultures. I also believe this project will help me improve my English. In the future, I dream of traveling abroad.

I am Müge from Şanlıurfa. I have been working as an English teacher for 7 years. This is my second e-Twinning project. In this project, I am working with 4 students aged between 14 and 17. I am sure this project will help my students improve their language skills and learn more about cultural diversity. Our project is about superstitions and cultural differences. We are excited to introduce the superstitions from our own culture and to learn about those from others.

There are carp fish which are the subject of legends. These fish are respected and invincible by the public. According to the legend, after Abraham was thrown into the fire, a miracle took place and the surrounding area became rosy. It is believed that the place where this miracle took place is Balıklıgöl and its surroundings.
