This was my first time eating and cooking dim sum .i ordered 3 rounds of dumplings to eat. I'm good at flatting the bread but not so good at wraps it up. I was in a group with kou Isabella Freya (who I miss) Isla Evan and mikhall. I liked my group because they were funnny and good at making dim sum. I went to dragon-i on the 22nd of March. At dragon-i, I learnt how to make dumplings. First we made the skin of the dumplings. We had to hold the end of the skin, and roll the other side you are holding. Then we do that several times, and then we check if there is a bump in the middle or not. If there was a bump in the middle, it's good but if there isn't a bump in the middle, it's a sign The you made the skin wrong. Next we put the meat (if you are a vegetarian, you put vegetables) on the skin and we wrap it. The meat and the skin has to be the total of 30g, and the skin has to be 6g. The problem was the wrapping. We didn't wrap it like with a wrap, we used a different technique to wrap it. The chef told me to first bend, then pinch, then to squeeze it. The chef told me to do that until we do one round basicly, wrap everything. Lastly the chef boils it and we ate it. It was different from a normal dumplings and it was harder, but it tasted brilliant.

When we first arrived we got told are groups and went to wash are hands. Then are chef showed us how to roll the dough. Me and Freya found this very hard, because there was a certain way of rolling the dough. What was really cool was that the chef just pull off the dough from the roll and all of the little pieces of dough was exactly 6g. It was my first time making dumplings with professionals. It was challenging but very fun. Today we went to a Mandarin trip. We went to the restaurant Dragon-i in curve. We were taught how to make red bean dumpling. It was really tricky but it was delicious. We were taught by a chef that was from China. He showed us the directions on how to make a perfect dumpling. I failed many times but I managed to do it. We needed to be really careful about the amount of filling we use because if we put too much everything will fall apart and if we put too little there would be too much dough which will be awful. After making the dumplings, we had lunch. I had fried rice that I brought from home because the food there was not halal. The food there looked really delicious and there were many kinds of food. In the middle of eating, the dumplings arrived. It was sweet and very tasty. I may have ate a little too much dumplings. The service in Dragon-i was really good and the price of the food was really reasonable. There was a competition on who made the best dumpling but sadly we weren’t one of the winners. I had a great time going in this trip and I will never forget about it. We made Chinese food last year but it was not as fun as this years trip. We learnt how to make xiao long bao. We first learnt how to cut the dough and watched shifu cut them precisely 6 grams. Secondly, we learnt how to roll the dough to make it thin. Finally, we filled the dough with chicken and made small pleats to close off the bun. Afterwards we had lunch at the restaurant and got to order whatever we wanted. We found out that our group won the xiao long bao competition and had free food. That food was really delicious, I especially liked the weird crunchy unagi things and the yellow buns filled with liquid . At the end we were all very full and there was some more to take away. When we were given the bill we all had to pay as a group and got confused about the change because all our notes were too big. We got it sorted in the end. I felt like we all worked together for the competition to win and I couldn't have done it without my team. It was hard to make the pleats without the dough melting or the filling spilling out.The food was delicious at Dragon- i and I hope to come again. After that we had a competition on the best dumpling that was made from the group the winner would get free food. There was 6 groups group A,B,C,D,E,F and the winners was B,C,D and they got yellow buns as they're free food. After that we ordered our food that we wanted and drinks that we wanted after all of that we took the bus and came back to GIS. This was a really good trip that the teachers organised and Thank you teachers. I recommend this to anyone who likes Chinese food and to other schools for field trips for Chinese language.They had really good chefs that could help us with the dumpling than doing it alone and struggling how to make the dumpling properly.
