The Power of Yet by Elly Walsh-Rock

In this Padlet, Carol Dweck's Growth Mindset model is applied to two different descriptions of innovation that George Couros describes in the classroom. The characteristics that Couros identifies are cross-referenced with the characteristics Dweck identifies - showing that indeed, an enduring, essential part of being an innovative educator and change maker is to embrace the development of a growth mindset. The Friedman op-ed also shows how Growth Mindset can be applied outside of education as well.

Taking a challenge as a learning opportunity and (even if it is not right away) valuing the lessons you learned in the experience.

For example, in high school I took a Trig test and got a 33% on it. I had no idea what was happening and I just thought I would eventually figure it out...magically. I transferred into a lower level class and it was so much better! The teacher taught at a slower pace in a different way and made me realize I could ask for help and that did not make me dumb.
