Every day, people around the world create and share millions of messages, images and videos. Young people have mobile phones from an increasingly early age and are exposed to as much information and misinformation - with the risks that this entails - as adults, but without the knowledge and personal background to sift through it. In fact, many of them are not aware of the influence they can have on others or how susceptible they are to receiving stimuli through the media. Thus, it is essential that the youngest have the necessary skills to navigate the different layers of the digital environment and know the consequences of their actions in this framework. For all these reasons, the Atresmedia Foundation and in accordance with its aims, wants to contribute to the development of the capacities of children and young people, teaching them and helping them to think in a more critical way about what they find, see and read in the media, providing strategies and resources to educate citizens about the media, enabling them to navigate all this media chaos that we are currently facing as a society. Media and Information Literacy (MIL) is a term that consists of learning technical, cognitive, social, civic, ethical and creative skills and abilities to navigate today's media, produce content and understand in a more critical way the information received. In other words, to teach and educate young people to acquire the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, create and act using all forms of communication. MIL recognizes the essential role of information and the media in our daily lives and that these are at the heart of freedom of expression and information, as it allows citizens to understand the role of the media and social networks with which they interact daily, their ethical expectations, critically evaluate their content and make critical decisions as consumers and producers of information and content. Likewise, users must be able to identify risks such as cyberbullying, fake news, online violence and other dangers of the network.
