3. What are the student perceptions about eSpark?

Will the teachers feel comfortable being honest and candid in their responses.

* Reading, math, Title I and special education teachers in grades K-5, special education teachers in grades 6-8.

* Elementary and middle school administrators.

To gather the opinions of teachers I may use a series of questions on the survey administered via Survey Monkey. Question types would include multiple choice, Likert Scales, and open ended. I am also considering conducting a focus group with 3-6 teachers.

To determine student perceptions I am considering interviewing a random sample of students from K-5th grade. I'm afraid that a survey would not be valid because the reading ability of very young students would hinder their ability to effectively answer the questions

My first question would use quantitative data including archival data from administrative observations, the program dashboard, and a teacher survey. It is an easy way to collect the data needed to measure this question.

My second question would involve the use of a survey to gather opinions. I considered using an interview or focus group, but since I am an administrator int he district I'm not sure if that would affect the validity of the study. They survey allows the teachers to remain anonymous.

My third question would best be measured by interviewing the students. I thought about the reasoning I used in question two to NOT do interviews, but feel that the students would have no problem being honest because they know they can say anything to me! A survey would be too difficult for my little ones.
