1. The first thing that comes to my mind are the people of the community and their problems. I then ask myself questions to help me decide on my projects. What are the problems or issues that my community is facing? Who are the members of the community that need help the most? Which problem is most prevalent but still within my capability to help? How will they benefit from my project? It's through gathering all this information, and finding answers to these questions, that I'm able to decide on a specific project for me to organize.

2. At a surface level one can say that faith is just a belief or a reason for you to follow the bible, but it's also much more than that. My own concept of faith is that it's love and trust in God. It means being able to trust in Him and His plans for me, loving Him, and loving others as we love ourselves. This concept allows me to feel grounded in everything I do. Even if I'm going through struggles I can still continue to work through them because I know it's part of His plan. It gives me the power to make the right choices, and continue on with life the way He laid it out for me.

-Angelie Marie Garrido

1. The purpose and the people. In serving the community, it is very important that we remind ourselves why we do it on the first place, because that would be the number one motivation we will have as we push through our projects. In the second day of camp, I learned a very important passage, “purpose before process”. Every time I facilitate or lead a project in our community, I always make sure that I have a purpose why I do it. I instill in my mind the reason why I did the project, and that keeps me going even through the times I experience challenges and difficulties along the way. All the time, the reason would always be the people and for the people. Growing up in a Catholic upbringing, one of the most emphasized lesson we have is being compassionate, and it played a great role in me being of service to the community. It is essential to understand the problem and how it affects the people, how do these people feel, and what can I do for them. Understanding people and their situation makes us compassionate towards them, and compassion is a very strong driving force that would push us to act and give us a purpose in doing our projects and serving others. I am the kind of person who is bothered whenever I know I could do something for others, and I did not do it. That is why every time I know I am called to service; I answer immediately. When I do something for others and the community, no matter how hard it is, I would always go back to the purpose and the people because that would keep me going forward.

    2. Faith is believing without seeing. It is knowing that someone is there for you even though you cannot perceive Him physically. It is trusting someone with your life and finding purpose in Him. It is a personal relationship with God, a fulfillment of the spirit. It is something unexplainable by words alone, faith is something strong that you can feel in your heart that is growing day by day, that gives meaning to your life, and separate living from just existing. My faith in God gives me meaning, a reason to live, to love, and to dream. Growing up in a very religious household and studying in faith-centered schools had been a great part of my formation and I owe it to them that they were able to show me the greatness and love of God that made my faith in Him grow and continue growing. I have always believed that my faith in God has made me a better person. It inspired me to echo love and compassion in whenever and wherever I am in life. It has led me to be fearless of the unpredictable future because I am always reminded that God is with me. I became a fulfilled and contented person because both in big and little thing in my life, I am able to feel God and His grace, starting with my family, my friends, people who have always supported me, my achievements, and being a TOSIA finalist. I can feel God’s presence whenever I breathe, when I look at the sky, when I catch the sunrise or sunset, when I eat, and when I read books. My faith in God made me genuinely happy because it made me appreciate all the things in my life that I know God has provided, and everything just seems meaningful to me. Most importantly, my faith in God strengthens me. It helped me overcome all the challenges in life and keep me moving forward. When things go wrong, my faith in God is my hope, and that is why I never give up.

-Mariela Deslate

1. There are lots of existing problems and situations which need to be addressed and resolved in our community nowadays. In coming up with projects for it, I consider first the purpose and impact of it. Like, would it be beneficial and sustainable for the recipients and the community. With this, we could plan out the project systematically and also we could consider the possibilities of changing of some parts of the plans if the situation doesn’t permit.

2. Faith is believing that everything happens according to His plans. This faith teaches me that I have to learn from the adversities which could help me become stronger and better. There were times that I became impatient but sooner I realized that I am grateful for having little delays because I was able to spent the time productively and worthwhile.

- MA.

1.) I always look back to my experiences and my surroundings when it comes to doing projects for the community. The pressing concerns and issues I witnessed were the reasons behind the projects I had come up with. I saw what is happening, I made an action; I experienced the same issue, I made an action to help other people who are experiencing the same issue with me. One of the examples, the webinar we held was about helping students who are struggling in their academics and mental health in this new normal situation. I, as a student, struggled also with my mental health and academics in this pandemic. I had the first-hand experience of the issue itself and that's what drives me to come up with this project.

2.) Faith is something that has a big part in my life. I always think that faith is not affiliated or connected with whatever religion you have. Also, it is powerful that could surmount every obstacle and ordeals in our life. Sometimes when everything is out of control, faith is the only thing we hold on to to rise and continue moving forward. My mantra in life is: "Faith over Fear". My concept of faith helped me to embrace all of my fears and overcome all the trials because I have faith; not just in God, but also in myself, in my family, and in my community. We couldn't do things in our community if we don't have faith in them because faith also means trust; and with trust, surely we will overcome any trials that may come, together.

-Carla Angela Herezo ♡

1. Purpose is all about using your passion, experiences, and talents to make the lives of other people better.

In coming up with the projects for the community, the first thing that I put in my mind is the purpose of such project. I believe that purpose comes first before the process because if you already have the purpose, you will have the drive to make things happen, come what may. Every time I'm planning a project, I always remind myself of the scope of the project - its reason and purpose. So when I feel like giving up because some things are beyond my control, I just go back to the reason why I have started and suddenly... the path becomes clear.

Whenever I'm in the process of making something happen, I ask myself the question "WHY?" first before the "HOW?". There should be a "why" behind everything we do because life is empty without it.

WHEN EVERY ACTION HAS A PURPOSE, EVERY ACTION HAS A RESULT.

2. Faith may seem a small thing, but it can lead people to some extraordinary actions. It's so important that God set this simple action as our only means to be saved. FAITH FOCUSES ON GOD INSTEAD OF THE PROBLEM. Faith is trusting God to do what is right even if it's not what we want. It is an assurance about what we do not see.

This concept affects my life in the sense that this gives me hope to keep moving forward while trusting God to do what's best for me though I can't see what's ahead. This has become an important factor in my life when it comes to making decisions.

I have survived a lot of trials because of faith alone. I've reached this far because I gave all of my trust to Jesus. Above all, I am saved by grace through faith.

All things are possible with God. We should just walk by faith and not doubt whatever our lot may be, but look to Jesus instead.

- Abegail Mandar

1. In coming up with projects for the community, what’s the first thing you put in your mind?

Thanks to someone who deserves it more than others do – Juanito Selibio

When I work on a community project, my first thought is always on what I can offer. I always conduct a reality check before implementing a plan. As a student, I must maintain track of the schedules of the people I am working with for them to coincide with mine. Being a part of the youth shows that, while I lack experience, I have a lot of potentials.

My community work demonstrates what I am capable of. I was able to implement a resume writing session, a leadership activity, and a numerical literacy program at Don Bosco Dumangas. All I did there were things I acquired in school and got from my few years of life experience. This is the finest part about starting early. Giving back to the community has taught me to seize any opportunities that come my way, since I am developing in my ability to do and be more, not only for myself but for others who deserve it as well.

So, what’s the first thing in my mind?

“What do I have now because of my privilege that others don’t possess?”

2. What is your concept of faith? How does this concept affect your life?

I am not religious in any way. I even question the notions engraved in the Bible from time to time. Why is feminism an unpleasant act against God? Why is homosexuality forbidden in the Bible? I've had no idea what the answers to my inquiries are until now. I'm not sure what I believe in, especially because there are so many varying interpretations of the Bible and religion, with Catholicism being our dominating religious doctrine. There are only a few things I am certain of. One, He loves me, and His arms are constantly open to me. Two, He's got my back. Finally, He is somewhere.

I don't memorize Bible verses, but I know He's present. I've had many ups and downs in my life that I've only told Him about. He was on my side through every down. He quietly provides me indications whenever I ask for a sign on what decision I should make. This is my faith—the concept of His presence within my heart. I live in peace, knowing that everything will be fine because it is all part of His plan.

-Maulyn Murielle S. Dominguez

1.) In coming up with projects for the community, what’s the first thing you put in your mind?

It is always the people and the purpose. I am someone who has compassion for my fellowmen that's why I have been constantly doing my best to create a great and visible impact in the community and provide the opportunities that its people deserve. The process of how to conduct the project just follows, that's why knowing the problems around us concerning the community and its people is something that we should put in mind first. After all, the help and service that we offer might be great or small, but what matters the most is the effort that we exerted and the time that we shared to them who are in need.

2.) What is your concept of faith? How does this concept affect your life?

Ever since then, I believed that faith is something that we can not see, but we firmly believe in. Indeed, it is quite true. However, my definition of faith changed when I entered High School and became a part of the CFC-Youth For Christ. I am thankful that He led me the way of knowing Him more and His words. A realization struck me that faith is something where love comes from because whenever I think that I have a strong faith in Him, I would always be reminded of how much beloved, gifted and empowered I am as His servant. Yes, faith is purely made out of love, that's why if you do not love God, you will not be able to have faith in Him and you will not be able to surrender yourself and everything that you have because you do not believe that he will show you righteous path where you really belong.

- Hans Christian Silva Fernandez

I ask myself, is it only because of the fame and recognition or is it because I want to bring a positive change and smiles to the lives of the many? In creating and implementing projects I always keep in mind if it could really create a long lasting effect to the people and I ensure that I can replicate it to other communities and sustain it for the next following years and so on.

1) Knowing the answers for 4 WH and 1 H questions are the foremost thing to do in coming up with projects for the community. I always remind myself to first identify what are the problems, what are the situations, what are the circumstances I may face, and then what are effects it may impact on the community. It is important that we will be aware of the reality, of what we really need for us to be progressive and to improve the quality of life here in our country. By knowing the problem, we can now proceed to the next question which is 'who'. Who are the affected people? Who should benefit from this? Who should be accountable for these lapses? By knowing the people behind every situation, it will lead us to the roots or the main cause of these problems. It might be ignorance, apathy, corruption, or poor governance. Subsequently, we should keep ourselves grounded in our goal, by knowing the 'Why' or our purpose why we are doing this? Why we should resolve these problems? Why do we need to move forward? Being able to remind ourselves of our purpose, will push us to be more determined and committed to achieving our objectives. With this, we can now start planning by answering these questions 'When and How ?'. Setting up a time frame and a framework of the project will enable us to see every possibility of the project, which will serve as our main guide in implementing it.

2) My concept of faith is a concept of acceptance.

John 14:6 Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father but by me"

My faith made me accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior, which also helped me to trust his plans and follow my purpose in life.

This concept gave me the strength to pursue my dreams and to trail the path he directed me to be in. As I continue my journey, I know that God is with me and will always be an important part of my life.

Lastly, my faith in God aided me to conquer my fears and weaknesses. I may not know what the future holds, by I will accept my fate, better myself, and lift it all up to the Lord.

-ISRAEL HANS S. GOLEZ

We, as Theresian Leaders we always anchored our commitment and compassion in serving the people in the community in making them realize that, in everything that we do, it always started in our own little ways and we do it with great Love. My Faith in God had a great impact on my personal life and as a Leader. For my Personal Life, it always empowers me to Pursue my dreams in life. By doing community outreach we were able to manifest our love and intention in creating a positive impact in the society. Always thinking about our Why comes first in doing community projects. Asking ourselves if it is important and for the betterment of everyone. We are always reminded that it is not about the "Kaya ba", but it is about "Gawin mo kasi mahalaga". It is our deepest pride and honor serving the community and providing them projects that supports their holistic development and growth always comes first. After all if you found your purpose in community leadership, a mere smile and gratitude from the people you helped is more than rewarding.

2. My Faith is my driving force. It is my life and and everything. In all the things I do, I always look into putting God in the center of everything. As my life verse Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" said everything is in control. My faith always take over all the anxieties and fears. I always know that in all situations God will always provide. Helping others makes God happy, and I will always be grateful knowing that I am an instrument of God.

1.) In coming up with projects for the community, what's the first thing you put in your mind?

When it comes to creating projects dedicated to the development of the community, the first thing I consider is what could be a sustainable solution basing on the demographic status of the area. After knowing the problem of a specific community, I find it very essential to give a solution that is realistically feasible, logically aligned, and sustainable. The term sustainability in this context, refers to something long-term wherein it can suppress the problem not only for a temporary period. For example, one project I headed was save the waves, wherein Ateneo starts to clean polluted shores within the area. Without a doubt, cleaning was the main activity, although it did not stop there. Rather than just cleaning shores, we integrated seminars in the project for the locals talking about environmental care and how to exemplify it. By doing this, we did not only temporarily solve the issue of pollution, but we fostered a sustainable and healthy community wherein they can independently solve their problems countering contingencies. One quote I admire is "if you give a man a fish you feed him for a day, but if you teach him how to fish, you feed them for a lifetime". The essence of this quote is the first thing that comes to my mind when making a project. I am fully determined to give an optimized solution not only to solve the issue temporarily but also to enable the members of that community to be independent and develop their full potential as a person to which they alone can solve such problems.

2.) What is your concept of faith? How does this concept affect your life?

My personal concept of faith is quite complex since I have several experiences that shape my idea on faith. Essentially I see faith as a never-ending source of motivation. There may be times in my life that I question my purpose and individuality, although faith just reminds me to never stop doing your best. In times where I lack the feeling of support, my faith in God throttles me to keep on persevering. I also see faith as a pinnacle of guidance. There may be times I face I divergent moral decision, although faith always pushes me to do what is right. Lastly, I see faith as a great source of hope. Whenever I face doubts or adversities, faith gives me a very optimistic outlook in life, to which I am able to disregard irrelevant feelings that may pull me down.

1.) In coming up with projects for the community, what’s the first thing you put in your mind?

This question allowed me to ponder upon what is the first thing I put into mind when I conduct projects for my community. I have conducted a diverse set of projects in my community that is not even connected with each other which allowed me to realize that the first thing I think about in conducting activities is my purpose. My purpose of serving others is what drives me to the activities that I conduct that will benefit other people. Regardless of how big or small the activity is as long as I know in my heart that I am fulfilling my purpose of service then, I would be more than content. I am grateful enough that all of my projects for the community are a success which led me to believe that in everything that we do we must always stick to our purpose and our core. Serving other people has always been a joy for me being able to champion those who are unfortunate, oppressed, and afflicted. Service is my purpose and my lifelong legacy.

2.) What is your concept of faith? How does this concept affect your life?

Being raised in a Christian household has always been an integral part of my life that I will never be ashamed of. I have and will always believe that the concept of faith is never about religion but rather our relationship to the almighty one. The sole purpose of Jesus returning to earth is to restore our relationship with him, during that time we were all his prodigal sons waiting to return to his household and restore our relationship with Him. My concept of faith is not about the label I set myself as to what religion or congregation I am a part of but rather my purest of intention knowing that I am His child.

This concept of faith allowed me to anchor my life to God. I am not a perfect person nor am I a perfect Christian I have my flaws and shortcomings. I am blessed enough to have people around me who share the same faith as I have and they are my stronghold when I am lost or when I feel alone. I face many challenges and obstacles in life and it made me stronger not only as a believer but as a person as well. It led me to become brave knowing that if God is for you that no one will be against you.

- Elijah Tjalling L. Paradero

1.) In coming up with projects for the community, what’s the first thing you put in your mind?

We should seek to understand what is needed. Sometimes, what the community needs and what we want to give do not match.

My number one priority in these kinds of projects is to acknowledge what problems and needs are necessary in the areas that are in difficult situations or affected by unfortunate circumstances. These include the pandemic or any other natural calamities. I and my council would then discuss the pros and cons and arrive at a conclusion where we can help counter the problems arising and provide a solution as to how we can help the community, and at the same time help our team develop and improve its social awareness.

2.) What is your concept of faith? My Mamita (grandmother) would always tell me “pray, pray, pray, because prayer is the greatest form of worship.” Faith is believing that God listens to our prayers and can move mountains. The Bible says “when we ask for something we should believe that we will have it and we will have it”.

We are a prayerful family. We give thanks for all the blessings that we receive during our rosary and family prayer. During this Pandemic, it is our faith that keeps us going and believing that God will keep us safe.

Ever since the lockdown, I started reading a book called the “Didache Youth”. All days of the year are paired with a lesson that guides me during my day. Whenever I wake up, I would turn to the pages of my book and review what God wants me to do.

Daily, I ask myself, “What does God want me to do?

1. It's all about assessing your own bandwidth, being more adaptive and prepared.

Like nowadays we never knew it could happen. The Coronavirus touched virtually every corner of the globe and almost every person’s life in some way. Hundreds of thousands have already died, and its economic ramifications have been disastrous. Individuals have been separated from extended family members and communities; schools and places of worship have been closed.
Long before this virus reached our shores, I already knew the meaning of courage and commitment. When few people dared to step out of their homes, I braved emergency rooms and cleared the streets to save lives, even if it meant putting my own safety at risk. When it was easier to fall into despair, I was the first to mobilise and assemble at our stations, knowing there was no time to waste.
Even now, I have kept your oaths to the letter: I treat the sick with passion and selfless care. I work tirelessly to provide essential supplies and care to the vulnerable. Without our dedication and vigilance, each project would surely fall apart

Be ready, be prepared and always accept change not just for the upcoming projects but also in the name of service and our country, we are one against everything, always remember there is a light in this darkness, and it shines from a path you illuminated when no one else could. Gani, PADAYON.

2.From the first moment I could remember, I was taught to have faith in what I could not see. I believed Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy, despite the fact that I had never, even once, laid eyes on them. My family has always consistently attended church, so the idea of believing in a God that cannot be seen with the naked eye was something that I just accepted. As I have grown older, I have realized that there is a whole lot more to faith than just simply stating that something has an existence.

There are families every day who endure horrible situations like divorce, bankruptcy, death, poverty, and disease. My own family has experienced a great deal of hardship and heartache, especially in the past year. A year ago I was living in the house that I grew up in, my family was complete, and the biggest problem I had was figuring out how I was going to pass Chemistry but now I care more about being strong for my family than passing my classes with the grades I desire. My life literally changed completely overnight, and, for a while, I believed that my life was falling apart. Needless to say, my life actually fell into place. The emotional, and even the physical, health of my family has greatly improved. My family is happier now than we ever were before and the catastrophe that my family experienced was a giant lesson in faith. To my family, faith means that God is in control, and that everything will be okay.

Dona Elizabeth Banga

In making projects or activities for the community I always consider the IMPACT of what I am doing through assessing the situation especially on where I could assist and how I could help.
