I learned that the North was more industrialized and they got their materials faster because of all the factories. The south struggled to get materials and guns, because they had fewer factories. The North also had a big railroad system. The Civil War accelerated the industrialization growth and let to the national banking system.

I learned that the North during the civil blocked off trading ports in the south to stop trading with Europe. This was called the anaconda plan conducted by the union. Without the trade the south ran low on for the war. All the north did block the ports the south tried to stop them with fast ships called blockade runners. All though they had these resources the north’s navy was much stronger.

I learned about why exactly all of this was about money. And I got some decent answers. A main reason why is because of the slaves, the slaves gave the south the money they needed. Slaves were probably the biggest impact to money at this time for the south. The north was against it clearly, and they just didn’t need slaves. I’m sure they used basically the same job system we use til this day to get people to work in the factories they made. This also allowed the North to make many, many guns, and ammo, and just anything needed to protect themselves.

This North showed a decent impact on how jobs should work. I’m sure the south implemented this system after slavery was abolished. This impacted jobs as a whole, it may not be perfect, but it’s way better than being a slave and being told what to do when to do it, against your will. Right?

Something I learned from AI is that some things need up staying around, like the form of government. Not only that but the technological advancements using guns made war more unsafe for soldiers who would end up fighting in the war in the future. I learned that approximately 620,000 people died in the civil war. Not only that but 360,000 were Union, 260,000 were Confederate, and 40,000 were African American. Which they made up 10% of the union's army. They were more involved emotionally in this war because most of them lived as slaves.

The two most used guns were the Springfield muzzle loader rifle and the Spencer repeating rifle. They both had an effective range of 200-300 yards even though the Spencer rifle was able to shoot multiple rounds before reloading, and was also rifled so it was more accurate then the muzzle loaded Springfield.

I learned that there was an advancement in the guns that the North had, instead of just like one shot guns that would need to be reloaded after. They got repeating rifles and Gatling guns; a Gatling gun was an early type of machine gun that used by a hand crank the gun had. This created a huge tactical advantage for the North because they could fire more accurately and effectively which overwhelmed the South forces in the war

I learned that the guns that were used in the Civil War were mostly standard muzzle loading rifles and muskets. A few Civil War infantrymen carried breech loading guns or repeaters. In the War breech loading weapons were way easier to use and also faster to reload. They were especially easier while laying in position on flat ground.

Some of the main people who helped lead the fight to equality were Abraham Lincoln with the Emancipation Proclamation, Fredrick Douglas a former slave advocated for the rights of African Americans, and Harriett Tubman was not only a conductor for the Underground Railroad but a Union spy. After the Civil War equality was complicated because even though the 13th Amendment abolished slavery, people of color still faced discrimination. The Reconstruction era tried to address the issues by giving citizenship and voting rights but many states "Jim Crow" laws enforced segregation and inequality.

What I learned was the richest slave owner was Joshua Ward who owned over 1,000 slaves. While the richest person was Cornelius Vanderbilt that tried to have no side in the war but later helped equipped the north with boats and supplies needed for the war. I also learned that some Native American tribes did participate in the civil war with the Cherokee fighting with some south tribes.

I learned about the Industry vs Agriculture. The Union was industrialized, with factories producing goods and weapons. The south however relied mostly on the production of cash crops like cotton and tobacco. This impacted the war because the major reason of the Civil War was because of the slaves being held in the south in order to farm the plantations. During the war the Union used “Scorched Earth” tactics in order to weaken the Confederate war efforts by destroying all the resources that could support the Southern armies. This crushed the souths economy because once the war was over it took a long time for the land to recover and be able to produce more crops.

Many people don’t understand the severity of things going on, and they also have to understand that these are people to. There are thousands of people passing away due to the sickness and diseases that consume their living place. This is both a social and economic problem. It is social because people are moving in and immigrating so they have no where to live. The economic part plays in because these same can’t afford a lot of things so they have to resort to living on the streets. This is a very big problem because American's were in terrible conditions, and no one had any knowledge of this until it was exposed.

The biggest issue of the Gilded Age is the poor conditions that people were forced to live and work in. The living areas that the middle class had to live in were called tenements. The tenements had multiple families in them, included one bathroom, and gross unsanitary conditions. Most workers were forced to work in unsafe environments. They usually had to work long days and got paid the minimum wage for doing so. This is an economical issue because of the overpopulation in the cities.

One of the biggest problems was all the housing that was too small and had horrible living conditions and too many people who had no other choice but to live that way.
