News is considered reliable, so what ever is said on the news is considered truth. People believe the truth and therefore the news. Even if the news is not reliable people will still believe it. People might after seeing only one point of view, believe in that one point of view only. If more people believe what they see right away then the truth becomes hard to find and unreliable.

The media can put things into our brains and our minds and we won’t even realize it.

The news is always affecting us in tons of different ways. Whether its a good way or bad way the news is always affecting us. For example, when a news broadcast is on a fire that could be happening near you it is not only affecting you but everyone around as well. That fire is causing people to suffer deaths, possibly a loved one, which causes you and your family to feel sad, along with anyone who knew the person in the fire. Eventually the bad news will spread and soon it will be affecting everyone. It’s the same way with good things, they spread and suddenly they are affecting everyone. Yes, the media controls our thinking. You know those new trendy pants that you just saw scrolling through Instagram. Now you want them because you like the way the look on the person there. You just let the media control you. It that way with everything you see something whether its a comment, picture, video, billboard, newspaper, their news, whatever. You get convinced of something which causes you to want something to make you feel a certain way. Therefore the media does control our thinking.

The media influences us in several major ways, the largest being political perception. When watching more Conservative channel, like FOX for example, you would likely see a more positive commentary on key figures like Donald Trump, Ckuck Grassley, Brett Kavanaugh, Lindsey Graham, etc. and negative views on those like Hillary Clinton, Robert Orourke, Chuck Scuemer, etc. while more Liberal channels like CNN or POLITICO would have opposite views. The channels would also disagree on key issues like healthcare, taxes, elections, and the Second Amendment.

Yes, the media does control our thinking. My two sources where very similar but I still think that it controls our thinking. It is not just our news stations that are controlling, it is also social media. For example Facebook, Instagram, and any other social media websites I don’t know about. Like if somebody goes on vacation and posts about. You might really want to go there, and you might think that you are not enough because you didn’t go there. Or if somebody posts about what they are wearing then you are as beautiful as you really are. Going back to the news topic. They are telling you their opinion. They may not incled all of the facts about what is going on. To conclude the internet does control our thinking. The only way to avoid that is by not using it, but we use it for information so that might happen.

Journalism researchers and professionals are increasingly focused on the mobile platform, which many believe has become the most popular method of digital news consumption. However, few studies that examine digital news use draw from observed audience behavior. Furthermore, little is known about whether or not different digital platforms affect how audiences actually attend to news. This article addresses these gaps. Using online audience data, we find that over the past year, the mobile news audience has indeed surpassed the desktop news audience in size, and that a subset of this audience devotes an enormous amount of time to news apps, especially compared with time spent on desktop devices. In light of our findings, we argue the mobile news audience should be seen not as one homogenous mass, but as two distinct groups—mobile news browsers and mobile app users. We conclude by discussing the implications of these findings for news production.
The media does not control our behavior but it can control what you know and that can influence your behavior and how you think. It can do this if you get lazy and get all your news, info, and impressions of the world from a few similar sources. But then, if you do that, it's not the media controlling you. It's you surrendering control of your own thought processes. With a fair amount of judgment, intelligence, and curiosity, anyone can become totally immune to any media bias or "control." All you have to do is question, think, verify stories you consider suspicious, and read read read widely. Many magazines, many books, many sources other than TV. And as to those commercials that probably control your behavior more than any news, turn 'em off. Be a citizen, not a consumer.

The news definitely does influence the way we think about current events in many ways. The main ways are that some journalists will only tell one side of the story or will sometimes twist words around to make a point. This is influencing the viewer because they will only be told one side and can have an unrealistic opinion on a certain topic or person. Fake news is all around us constantly, including social media such as, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and YouTube. Those sites will use fake news for comedy and follower support. It can be hard to tell if a site is credible or not because we are constantly told polar opposites on the same topic. Another example is that a writer can twist what someone says surprisingly easily, the author could say for example a “swarm” of kittens instead of a “group” of kittens. One side can be taken very negatively. There are many more ways that the media controls the way we think.

I think that the news is very biased. They want you to believe there side of the story, no one else’s. Election time is a great example of that. If you were watching Fox News they would be very much for President Trump. They would be trying to persuade you to vote for him but not all the time using full truth. You can’t call it a lie either. They take the truth twist it a little or cover it a little and even sometimes both and there you have something that favors one person and not the other. You need to watch two different news networks to get the “full” story but how do you really get the full story if they’re just twisting and covering it? How can you know it’s true if they both are telling half truths? You would then watch more networks. Isn’t that a waste of time? Do you need to spend that much time on the T.V. figuring out what’s real and fake? Won’t you just get confused and start right back at square 1 again? We need a network that tells you what’s happening and doesn’t give opinion after opinion. We need a network that gives fact and truth instead of biases and covered truths. We also need good news instead of the regular bad news. I think the news is biased.
