Cancer is a group of diseases in which cells grow and divide out of control. It results from a change in the DNA that controls the cell cycle. This change prevents the cells from staying in interphase for the normal amount of time. One or more of the checkpoints fails, so the cell and all of its subsequent daughter cells continue to divide uncontrollably [from the textbook].

A diagnosis is finding the issue causing a health problem. Doctors will test someone to see whether they have cancer or not with diagnostic tests. If cancer is present, the test also helps understand what type of cancer there is. To make sure the correct test is being done, a doctor looks at the person's age, medical condition, previous test results, type of cancer suspected and any symptoms shown. A popular test that is performed is a biopsy. A biopsy is the most efficient way of analyzing the tissue for cancerous cells in the person's tissue. After a biopsy, the tissue sample is viewed under a microscope. Diagnosing cancer early helps get treatment for the type of cancer as soon as possible.

Smoking can be the cause for many types of cancer; most commonly lung cancer. Smoking damages the cells' lining the lungs. After continued smoking, lung cells can lose the ability to repair themselves, this allows the cancerous cells to spread in a chop-chop fashion. www.mayoclinic.org/dise ases-conditions/lung-cancer

Is smoking related to cancer?
Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer. Smoking also increases the risk of other types of cancer. This can be avoided by staying away from other smokers, and not smoking in the first place. [from the textbook] The reason why cigarettes are so harmful is because of the poisonous substances they contain. Though there are warning labels on every package, cigarettes are highly addictive. This makes it hard to quit. Some symptoms of cancer related to smoking is shortness of breath, coughing, hoarse voice, and difficulty excersizing.

There are so many causes of cancer that it's almost impossible to name all of them. But here's just a few. There's genetic cancer, cancer caused by smoking, cancer caused by sun and UV exposure and other carcinogens. Poisons in tobacco can weaken the body's immune system making it harder to kill the cancer cells. When cancer is cause by genetics its a little more complicated than it sounds, you see genetics means its a variation of hereditary characteristics. So in other words it just being passed on by the parents. That's pretty much it.

http://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancercauses/index

https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=what+causes+cancer+video&&view=detail&mid=59111DAB099323E36F7659111DAB099323E36F76&FORM=VRDGAR
