In 2016, JPMorgan earned first place ahead of Bank of America Merrill Lynch who won the top spot the year before. This was a result of 40 JPMorgan financial analysts being voted in, four more than last year.
Golf 101 - Playing the Wind

Financial executive Chuck Grom most recently spent three years as a managing director with CRT Sterne Agee in New York, where he ranked in the top five of the firm’s internal sales force. In his leisure time, Chuck Grom enjoys playing golf.

In golf, fewer things frustrate players more than a strong wind interfering with their shots. Here are three tips to help you make the most of a windy day on the course.

Don’t get too aggressive: Although it may seem logical to hit the ball harder into a headwind, a stronger stroke can put backspin on the ball, causing it to fall short. Instead, aim for 80 percent of your full strength and swing smoothly to minimize spin.

Keep the ball low: By reducing the amount of time the ball is in the air, you can minimize the impact of the wind, whichever way it is blowing. To accomplish this, keep the ball back in your stance and shift some of your weight forward.

Play conservatively: Instead of hitting directly for the green on par 3 and par 4 holes, consider laying up for an easier shot at the green. Aiming for the fat part of the green can also minimize your exposure to the wind.

Three Quarterbacks Vying for Jets Starting Job

As a managing director for Gordon Haskett Research Advisors, Chuck Grom leverages over 15 years of experience analyzing small and mid-cap hardline retail stocks. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Chuck Grom is a season ticket holder for the National Football League's (NFL) New York Jets.

The Jets have missed the playoffs for six consecutive seasons, and expectations aren't high for the 2017 NFL season. Stuck in a division with the dominant New England Patriots, the team is building toward being competitive again in 2018. New York's general manager began that process in the recent offseason by ridding the team of some of its overpaid veterans to give young, unproven players a chance to thrive.

Two of those young players the team hopes will step up are quarterbacks Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty. Hackenberg was selected in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft and didn't take a single snap last season, but he's still only 22 years old. Petty, meanwhile, is a 26-year-old former fourth round pick who started four games as a rookie in 2016. Both players will be competing for playing time with 38-year-old veteran Josh McCown, who has every intention of winning the starting quarterback job out of training camp. In 82 career games (60 starts), McCown has 79 touchdowns and 69 interceptions to go along with a win-loss record of 18-42.

Not Your Father’s Wal-Mart

A senior analyst and managing director at Gordon Haskett Research Advisors, Chuck Grom covers the broadline/hardline retail and supermarket sectors. Previously working in similar roles in large financial institutions including Deutsche Bank and J.P. Morgan, he has consistently been recognized as a top retail analyst. Chuck Grom’s insights and opinions are also regularly sought by major financial news outlets.

In a Bloomberg article entitled From Prices to Patents, Target Is Losing the Battle to Wal-Mart, Mr. Grom was quoted as saying, “This is not your father’s Wal-Mart anymore.” The article notes how for many years Target developed a strong following with its sleek, appealing image compared to Walt-Mart's dull Supercenters.

This is no longer the case, as Target has lost much of its cool factor with the rising popularity of online shopping, particularly in apparel, which has been a strong area for the retailer. Wal-Mart, on the other hand, has taken a step ahead of Target with lower prices, cleaners stores, a renewed online strategy, and other innovations.

A case in point is in Rogers, Arkansas, where Wal-Mart employees are up at 4 a.m. working to fulfill online grocery orders for curbside pickup at designated parking spaces. Clearly, this is no longer the Wal-Mart of years past.
