He still finds bugs such as roaches to be friendly and not as disgusting as  everyone else sees them to be. He still thinks of them as friends without knowing why everyone wants them gone. I see that the flower is the joy that only a child can see through the bigger picture of poverty. And the crack in the wall resembles the burden of poverty and how it always lingers even through the brighter moments of life. In the book, Travis acts like a regular kid even with the burden of poverty his family carries.  So while everyone in his family stresses over poverty, he can see beyond it.

"Poverty is a curse for human society"

In the book, poverty is a main problem for the family, as I have stated multiple times before. This line from the poem "The Curse of Poverty" is a sum up of the main idea. Poverty has plagued the world for years before and evidently has continued to curse this land today.
