Throughout our education, the colonization of Chile was always talked about as something positive and beneficial for our future, maybe if we see it from that point of view it is true. But how about seeing the other side of the coin? Maybe not everything was pink, we are going to talk about that in today's Padlet.

Colonization began when the Spanish intended to make a trip to India for commercial purposes and ended up arriving in Latin America in 1520. There began a whole war of forces between the natives and the Spanish, of course there are two parts of the history of the Spanish that He says that he was helping the natives by introducing culture, religion and technological advances and that of the natives, who they say are practically demons who took away their lands, killed and enslaved there, our subject enters, was Chile really colonized? Or was it decimated?

In 1520 Magellan set foot on Chilean soil, but it was Pedro de Valdivia who colonized.

The natives were not as advanced as the Spanish so the aforementioned had an obvious advantage.

When colonizing the lands to found cities (such as Valdivia and Santiago) there was indigenous resistance that even led to a war (The Arauco War).

When the Spanish took control, they built the cities to later focus on politics and the creation of councils and laws.

Politics in colonial chile
Colonial Chile in its beginnings was a very hostile place
with the arrival of the Spanish there were many territorial changes since before it did not belong to a government or something like that, they were indigenous tribes that inhabited the area
in colonization a lot of discrimination and racial mixing arises, giving way at the same time to wars, laws and different problems
In 1977, a law called ¨Indigenous Law¨ emerged that seeks to protect the lands
Between 1860 and 1930 a law was established in Chile that tries to attract European people (Spain, Italy and Portugal). However, Chile was not a country of massive immigration, it only had 0.5 of the total immigration from Latin America

In conclusion, it could be said that Chile was decimated and that human rights were violated, but unfortunately it was a different time so that was more natural than we thought. what we can do is learn from the past for the future and learn history in a good way.
