This is an anti-imperialism cartoon that shows Roosevelt crossing the panama canal. The cartoon is representive of the power that America had over Panama by having Roosevelt as a giant. Roosevelt is also riding on a old rickety boat across the very expensive canal to symbollize that America could not afford the Canal or the boat so they had to settle for the old one. The big stick represents the military action involved.

The White Man's Burden' was a poem that meant to help and warn the US. In the peom it says imperialism was not just a way for countries to gain power; it was also a form of humanitarianism. It meant we were helping weaker people around the world. Kipling's poem explained that as an advanced nation, the United States was responsible for educating and civilizing the native peoples. This was the White Mans Burden.

It is never justifiable for America or any other country to intervene or get involved with another countries affairs, this causes economic greed, political corruption, mistreatment, and social mayhem including rebellion and death. Imperialism is never right because no matter how bad a country wants power they do not have the "god given right" to intervene or take over a nation.
