         <description><![CDATA[<div>Search engines are huge data base of web pages and files that have been gathered automatically by a machine.<br><strong>Two types:</strong></div><ul><li>Individual </li><li>Meta</li></ul><div>Search engines compile their databases by employing "spiders" or "robots" to crawl through a web space from link to link.<br><strong>Pros:</strong></div><ul><li>allows access to large portions of publicly available pages</li><li>best way to search web</li></ul><div><strong>Cons:</strong></div><ul><li>Number of words indexed by search engines increases the likelihood that you will get hundred of thousands of responses to simple search requests</li><li>many irrelevant items to you original search</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>They are created and maintained by human editors that review and select sites for inclusion in their directories.  The resources are usually annotated and the amount is usually smaller.  Subject directories come in different types: general, academic, commercial, portals, and vortals.  Most subject directories have partnered with search engines to query their databases and search the web for additional searches.<br>Pros:</div><ul><li>type organized directories</li><li>few results</li></ul><div>Cons:</div><ul><li>Most do not compile databases on their own</li><li>dead links</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A web page usually includes the following fields: title, doamin, host, URL, and link.<br><strong>Title searching</strong>- this is usually located at the top of browser's window.<br><strong>Domain searching</strong> is where you can choose to limit your field search to 1 of the top level domains.<br><strong>Host or stite searching</strong> is when you are seeking information on a specific computer or server.<br><strong>URL searching</strong> can help your search move more quickly.<br><strong>Link searching</strong> is when you have a web page and you want to know who is linking to it.<br><strong>Image searching </strong>is when you are looking for a particular image on the web.</div>]]></description>
