I think the algae growth was from human pollution. I think this because in the article it said "But soon, the fish began to die, and the water started to smell." which the smell already shows it could be human waste. The next thing was that the article said " nutrients that often come from fertilizers and animal waste." and that sentence shows direct evidence on what could have caused the growth in algae. My finale peice of evidence is in the text where it said "When the algae die, decomposers use up oxygen in the water to break them down. This leaves less oxygen for fish and other aquatic life." to which that gives the reason on why the fish had died. But it all led back to human pollution.
