In the 1800's the American Dream is that you work for yourself and you trust in yourself for example "Trust thyself, every heart vibrates to the iron string." This basically says that you work for your life and to keep a beating heart.Back then during the puritans they had a dream of going to heaven and living a pure life for example "Unconverted men walk over the pit of hell on a rotten covering." Meaning that all men try to be in the hands of God.

In the earlier 1900's Mark Twain had an American Dream that consisted of focusing on themselves and trying less for others for example. "we are nothing but echoes we have no thoughts of our won no opinions of our own we are but a compost heap he made up of decade heredities and moral and physical. This saying that you live for yourself and make yourself better.

Gatsby decided to throw parties and many seen this as the dream he wanted but he was just trying to lewer in Daisy. He wanted her to be back with him but was shy about it.

According to me the American dream is to be in the middle class with a good supportive family that takes trips. Another part of being in the American dream is to drive a car that you are worry free and have no payments to make and pay your house off right away. Go out to soccer games and going to the beach on a weekend.

It is nice to have all of these things while working you have to find the time that you dont have to use all of these and hang out with your family becasue you are always working to be able to provide for your family of 4.
