Due to the economically struggling nature of our rural community (and likely many like it) it is difficult to get buy-in or approval from decision makers if the counter to the proposed policy is that it will hurt businesses/dissuade prospective businesses/harm the economy (my thoughts are policies that cap or otherwise restrict retail or that extend secondhand smoke limits). Any thoughts or pointers on how to counter financial arguments or effectively include financial costs to the community of tobacco use would be helpful!

Any direction on how to find data points (or share among work group members) for strategies and policies that have or have not worked in rural communities would be appreciated! It helps in gaining buy-in if we can say this worked in XYZ community with similar demographics.
