This quote shows that Mama is Authenticity because Mama doesn't worry about what other races say about African Americans because she knows what she is and whats she is worth. She doesn't care what people think about her, if it means something to her then she wont care what you think about it. This quote shows that Mama is Perseverance because at the end of the book when Walter lost all the money and didn't tell Mama what he was doing with it in the first place. When Beneatha wanted to be a doctor she put money out for her to go to school. Another way she was  looking out for her family's future is when she forgave her son for losing the money but she still went through so her family could be happy.

The quote supports the theme because Mama is talking a out when she was little she always let people say anything to her so when she thinks back to people saying that she doesn't let that happen anymore she does whatever she wants whenever she wants and nobody stops her.
