Every experience or challenge the boy had led him to understanding something new about himself and brings him closer to his treasure. I liked the part about how on occasion the caravan would have detours, but they would still continue traversing in the same direction. I think this is a metaphor about the protagonist's personal journey. The boy has setbacks and discouragement, but his fate is still bringing him the same way. This can be said about my life as well. There may be setbacks and disappointments but what you truly want will be achieved.

In The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, dreams play a central role in the protagonist Santiago's journey. His recurring dream about finding treasure in Egypt motivates his quest. The novel emphasizes that following one’s dreams is essential to discovering one’s purpose and true happiness. Dreams also symbolize the pursuit of personal legend, the unique path each individual must follow to fulfill their potential. Throughout the story, Santiago learns that understanding and following his dreams leads to spiritual growth and deeper self-awareness. I chose this because I have dreams too. Like Santiago, I believe that following our dreams is essential to discovering our purpose and reaching our full potential. It’s inspiring to see how pursuing dreams can lead to personal growth and fulfillment.

The dream Santiago keeps having is about finding treasure in Egypt. The dream appears as a omen which helps leads him to eventually start his journey and seek for treasure. Omens represent a form of spiritual guidance that helps the individual pursue what they want to do. I don't really remember my dreams but I've had similar experiences.

In the book "The Alchemist" Personal legends seems to be and are a important part of this book because Santiago keeps trying to find out about his personal legend and even though he knows that this personal legend that he's told about will not come to fruition his determination leads him to keep working towards his dream. I think that this is important and while i might not exactly have a personal type of dream of any sort that I'm working towards I wish to be able to have the kind of determination and perseverance that Santiago shows in this book.

The word coincidence kept popping up in conversation between the Englishman and the boy as they had many similar goals. Also when he kept thinking about how they would take all these detours and somehow still be on the right path. My omen's give me a sense that everything does happen for a reason because I practice Islam as well. So anything Allah (swt) does for me in life is what is destined to happen whether good or bad.

Every experience he's had has led him closer to his fate. When Santiago first met the king he didn't want to be a Shepperd, he wanted to be adventurous and travel the world, but the kings fate led him to the treasure. I can connect to fate and destiny by going where the wind takes me, I follow any path I'm given that might help me grow and be better. I believe that fate can help me with my goals and help me succeed in life.

Santiago experiences fate throughout his mission, how one choice leads up to where he is now. Ever since Santiago had his repetitive dream about finding treasure, he has gone through many challenges and barriers that have brought him to where he is. An example being him needing to get money to travel, without this set back in his mission he would not have met the crystal merchant.

Thinking of fate makes me also think about the butterfly effect. Small things changing and building up, and how that impacts the outcome. My connection to this theme is meeting my loved ones. How if I never did something, they would not be in my life.

The Alchemist begins with Santiago having dreams of exploring the world. Santiago begins as a shepard, and Santiago is told there is a treasure at the pyramids of Giza and dreams of it during the book. When Santiago begins his journey to the pyramids in hope of achieving his dreams, he meets a girl and now has dreams of her, and thinks of her along his journey. I connect to this because there was a big change in my life, and since then, it has inspired me to follow my dream, similar to Santiago.

The crystal shop owner was fated to meet Santiago, in order to redirect him in his life. When they met they were both going through hard moments, the shop keeper felt that he was trapped working in his shop, even though it was now almost unknown to the townspeople, shown on page 46 where it narrates "He had been in the same place for thirty years" "Now it was too late to change anything." Santiago also felt trapped, after being robbed he didn't have enough money to get across the desert or to go back home. But once the two joined paths, the shop keepers business blossomed and the boy now had found a way to work back the money he had lost. Both had helped each other to change their lives, almost as if it was destiny.

In The Alchemist, dreams are a key part of Santiago’s journey. Santiago has a recurring dream about finding treasure in Egypt. This dream motivates him to leave his home and become a traveler, even though he was once content being a shepherd. The dream is not just about wanting treasure, but it represents his deeper desire to follow his personal legend, which is the special path he must take in life. Throughout the story, Santiago learns that his dreams guide him, even when things seem difficult. I connect to this theme because I also have dreams and goals that help me stay focused on what I want to achieve. Just like Santiago, I believe that our dreams can show us the right direction and help us find our true purpose in life.

In The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho a reoccurring theme is dreams. This shows up throughout the book. It begins with the main character (Santiago) dreaming about finding treasure in Egypt. This starts him on his Hero’s Journey, his quest to find the treasure. Dreams can mean different things; dreaming when you are sleeping or a dream for yourself (ex. What you will do in the future.) I think that dreams are important because I see dreams as a goal for myself. I know what I want, what I dream about, and that is what gives me motivation to reach that dream, to work towards it.
