When Michael was young, he received a life-saving organ transplant. The country is experiencing a critical shortage of organs for transplantation, and many lives could be saved if more organs were available.

Background:

Danny was born with a specific purpose unbeknownst to her until adulthood: to save her older sister, Catherine, from a fatal kidney disease. Their mother deliberately conceived Danny as a genetically compatible donor for Catherine, who was expected to need a kidney transplant around the age of 30. Catherine, unaware of the true reason behind Danny's birth, genuinely loves her sister and even risked her own life to save Danny during a sudden blizzard on a hiking trip.

As Danny grows up and discovers her mother's intentions, she feels used and dehumanized, viewing herself as merely an instrument created to save her sister. When the time comes for the kidney transplant that could save Catherine's life, Danny, still feeling betrayed and angry, chooses not to donate her kidney. Unfortunately, Catherine eventually succumbs to her illness, leading to widespread criticism of Danny as selfish.

Ethical dilemma: Is it immoral for Danny to refuse to donate her organ to her sibling, given that she has the right to make her own decisions and autonomy not to donate?
