Moving westward was an act of self promotion, and the Americans paid no regard as to how the aboriginals of the land were affected. They started unprovoked wars with neighboring countries for the sake of land in the name of religion, and ended up twisting the name of God into benefiting themselves, even though religion shouldn't be about every individual, but about the group as a whole.

The American settlers’ yearn for territory lead to several unfavorable outcomes, such as the expulsion of the Native Americans from their homes; the Mexican-American War, in which the new American settlers and the original Mexican residents battled for the land of Texas; and the exploitations of several ethnicities and races during the Gold Rush.

The Gold Rush influenced the Westward Expansion negatively. The first reason is due to the thousands of deaths it caused. Second, it created many problems in the community as people became more primitive. These communities also caused people to get health issues very quickly. Some people might say that the movement of people at least spread out the people in the cramped East. However, most people died along the journey to the West.

The railroads caused the economy to skyrocket as it grew into the biggest industry of it's time. The transcontinental railroad advanced and increased westward expansion populating the west and mid-west as towns were established along the railroads. The railroads created an easier, cheaper, and more efficient way to transport freight and people across the county. All of these factors combined to grow the railroad industry resulting in many benefits for the United States.
