The Mexican War Results

Last month, we had a war and a couple of treaties and purchases that helped us Americans acquire the lands of California, Nevada, Utah, most of Arizona, and parts of New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. Back in 1845, America admitted Texas as a slave state but the Mexicans still believed that they had control of the land of Texas. Mexicans saw this annexation as an act of war, they claimed that the Rio Grande was the border between these lands and the lands of Texas crossed this boundary by about 100 miles or so. John Slidell, a Spanish speaking ambassador was sent to negotiate with Mexico and offered $25 million for the lands of Texas, California, and New Mexico, in short, the negotiation did not succeed. In May 1846, General Zachary Taylor led troops into war with Mexico. Not long after, General Stephen Kearny led troops into California and defeated them within a few weeks. The new territory and land made it difficult for us but we succeeded. Actual taking over Mexico was much harder and America attacked for a few months with an onslaught of attacks which Mexico could no longer take. In the last month, 1845, America and Mexico signed the treaty. Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ended the war and Mexico ceded a vast area of land to America known as the Mexican Cession and we won the war. Not long after, we decided to buy the land that Mexico still had on the coast for $10 million dollars known as the Gadsden purchase.

I was living in my lands when one day, my government allowed American settlers to come into our land on three circumstances, they must convert to Christianity, become Mexican citizens, and give up the act of slavery. As many of you know, they didn't listen to these rules and they soon annexed Texas after beating us in war. Not long after, they decided to claim territory in the Rio Grande whilst it was clearly in our control. The war took the lives of many people I knew and the government could take it no longer when the americans went from california to mexico razing down my homeland. My people now have been pushed south and in the best interest of my family and my own, I have decided to live in the united states.

The Mexican war and Gadsden purchase have helped us gained all land to the west of America just as God had intended. Our Manifest Destiny has been fulfilled, the fact that god wants Americans to colonize all the way to the west. The annexation of Texas, as we all knew, was only the beginning of the the land we wanted to gain, Not owning slaves would destroy the lives of people looking to settle down and make farms in texas so we had to take the land. The mexicans got what they deserved as the lord's intentions were on our side. I beckoned Zachary Taylor to start the first battles and the war begun. We, ask you read before, won but not before signing the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. We then had the Gadsden Purchase, allowing us to complete the land from east to west in the land of America.
