World War One provided women the ability to step out of their traditional gender roles and into a new light. Women had the ability to hold full time paying jobs in many industries, however, once the War ended, women were once again forced back into their role of, “the mother, the passive flesh at the mercy of fate” (Source B). Moreover, women’s ability to step out of the role of domestic servitude allowed for many new opportunities and freedoms regarding women’s rights, “A new woman had emerged, posing far-reaching challenges to relations between the sexes” (Source A). However, in celebrations after the War, women were seen as being “intruders” and were not provided the same ability to celebrate their achievements in comparison to men (Source C).
