I was born and raised in Michigan. Before cosmetology, I attended a small Christian college and received a Biblical studies certificate. Directly after finishing that, I began my cosmetology apprenticeship. I worked in the hair industry for about six years.  I enjoyed my time as a stylist but I am looking forward to something new.
I am very close with my family; I spend as much time with them as I can. I also enjoy cooking, being outdoors (especially on or by the water), and doing anything creative.

I started my career path as a Dental Business Office Manager having graduated with an Associate's from WCC. After 15 years in the dental field, I took about the same amount of time to grow and raise my family. I didn't have an interest in returning to dental but with insurance, billing coding as a skill set, I found this program and continuing my growth in the medical field of interest. Greetings all! My name is Abigail but i regularly go by Abbi or Babs. I am finding myself in the medical billing and coding certificate program after a slight change in my college direction. I recently graduated with my associates and was headed to the Nursing program when all this COVID and lock down life happened. I also just recently had a beautiful baby boy who made me rethink my in--person schooling and jobs. I still plan to complete the nursing program and specialize in forensic science but for now i love that medical billing and coding gives me a great career with flexibility of work place and something to keep working while in the program. It also allows me to keep planning my wedding and adding to my dream home as well as watch my son and foster son grow. Yes i am also fostering a 4 month old baby who's bio parents were not ready to care for an infant. I will tell you i am crazy busy with an 8 month and 4 month old but hey, thats where the fun is at! I very much look forward to this semester and getting into the coding world!
