Our Bodies

in this activity for the infants in the Our Bodies theme book, what we can do with the infants are singing the “Head and shoulders, knees and toes” in a simple way so they can start to remember when they are old enough. It can be adjusted by helping the infant what and where the body part is.

If it was at the daycare, I would introduce it by putting the infants in the facility in the circle and demonstrate how it will be and sing along while pointing where my body parts are at. This song can be sang in both languages in English and in Inuktitut if the daycare teaches in both Languages.

An educator teaching this activity can help with the infants by getting the infant to move their farms or get them to point with their index finger on where it has to touch when they are singing the song.

Rosalynn

For this assignment, I chose Our Bodies Theme.

Firstly, I would like to start off by saying that I would introduce this activity to a group of infants in simple ways and start reading the “Where is baby’s belly button?” Book. After reading the book, I would start asking each infant “Where is your nose?” “Where are your eyes?” And such. Secondly, If I were an educator doing this activity, I would ask my co-workers to grab an infant and sing along with me slowly so that infants could really listen and watch closely; I would let caregivers help infants move around a little while singing the head and shoulders song. Caregivers could also get repetitive to infants of where our body parts are because repetition is the key for success in infants and toddlers, Infants would slowly learn how to point on their body parts. Thirdly, I would get some paint, paint brushes and let infants explore by painting their hands/feet, it is really important that infants gets to explore too, especially in sensory activities, this painting activity would be good for gaining fine motor skills mostly I think would be more for older infants (6 months to a year old) because I have never heard of 0-5 months being in childcare centres lol) This activity supports fine motor skill development in Infants through small movements, exploration and hand-eye coordination.
