I believe this poem means that it is trying to tell us that we choose where we fit in in society and that we will eventually find love even after hard time. Connects to transdentalism by how we choose to fit in in society.

This poem has a great deal of meaning. I believe that it means if you truly love something, thou will find it. This happened to me when I lost my dog Rufus but later found his carcus in a ditch. I was devastated but I knew I loved that dog

I think that this poem is saying how people choose only a few friends who are important to them and then they shut everyone else out for their thoughts. Nothing can change the person once the "door" is shut. The soul loves one person. I think this poem is telling us that we have the people we are closest to us in life and we shut the door on the rest of the world around us. I think this is talking about how the soul develops. At one point or time the person makes a choice on how the souls going to be. From that the person is now ruled by whatever they chose, its no more a majority. The person(The Emperor) now has to bow to who they made their soul to be and it is now set in stone of who their soul is. People develop themselves into something even if they don't realize it and they now have to follow that

I think the poem is showing how once we find what we need to fulfill our lives, then we don't need anything else. Once we find our true calling or true love, we don't need anything or anyone else telling us what to do. This connects to transcendentalism because it shows how we don't need society telling us what to do. Society is the source of corruption, according to transcendentalism, and this poem shows how we can disregard what society wants us to do.

If I had to give my two cents on this work of poetry, I'd reckon it is talking about the development of the soul and personality. Over time, the person changes their views and makes different decisions through life. However, eventually someone will figure out who they truly are and make consistent choices that follow their conscience and morals. This is a splendid little poem and I'm glad you showed us it. This little poem is the best thing since sliced bread.

After reading this great poem. I've made a solution to this and I believe that the true meaning of it is that... Friends that you make can either be pennies or quarters. I mean like its not bad to have alot of friends but the ones you make deep bonds with, are truly one you will do anything with.

I think this poem means that people will choose their friends and they won't choose a lot of bad ones, but they will choose good ones. You will eventually find the right person and you will persue your dreams with them. This poem could have multiple meaning. this meaning that I am interpreting is that this poem is about a soul finding its partner. Once it has selected a partner it cannot change its mind the soul has to stick with the one it picks even if the two can never be together. Other things can happen on the outside that can change who you are and how you live, the one whom you love remains constant if they are your soulmate.

I think the poem means that you should choose one person that you love, then shut the door on the people you can't trust. Once you shut the door, you're committed to that person for the rest of your life. You can't leave that person because once a soul meets another soul it can't leave. Transcendentalism is compared to this because it is what you think is right not what society thinks.
