He also took the choice that was less mainstream and it made a difference because even though the choice was more popular, it doesn't affect the impact of the choice itself. It is also impossible to take 2 choices at once so the author is regretting the loss of opportunity with the fact that its only possible to take one choice.

The theme is about making choices because the author is talking about his experience with life-changing choices. It also talks about uncertainty because the author tries to express the idea that even though how much information you gather about the choices (looking and observing the roads), there is a limit to what you can gather which will make things difficult as you don't know which choice is the most beneficial one. It also shows within the rest of the poem that the author doesn't know what taking the other road would've done which shows that choices are a one-time thing, thus making you have to choose wisely.

The feeling of this poem is sorrowful because when having to choose, you don't know which path will be the right path and since choices could only be chosen one time, there is a loss of opportunity which is filled with uncertainty instead. Also, if you choose a path in life you cant go back the other way, and that makes you feel guilt in yourself and regretting the thought of you choosing that path.
