1. This film is about two successful chefs making a 3-course meal for the President of the United States.
2. The audience would be those invested in the cooking world, as well as those who are interested in seeing how things are made for some of the most powerful people in the world (young adults-the young at heart).
3. The most important point is that cooking is not easy, even for the most talented; however, as long as you don't give up, you can cook whatever you heart desires.
4. I want my audience to be inspired to cook and to feel excited to do so. I also want them to be determined to never give up during their cooking endeavors.
5. Character #1-John Smith is an executive chef for the La Grande Cascade restaurant, and is a stocky man with scarred hands, which came from his humble beginnings at the frier of his local Mcdonalds. He has brown hair and a bushy, neatly-trimmed beard of the same color, as well as the lengthy frame of a 6'2" man.
Character #2-Matthew Hernandez is a sous chef for the legendary Gordon Ramsay and has been taught everything he knows. He is 5'10" and has an enormous wingspan-to the extent that he can touch wall to wall in certain rooms. He has dark, silky hair and ninja-like dexterity with a kitchen knife.
6. This story matters to me because cooking has been one of the uniting factors in my family, as well as the film's theme of perseverance. I chose to present these things in this film because I thought it would be a good base to center my creativity around while still having a slight comical aspect (as the chefs will have a roadblock in their work).
7. My audience will be interested in this because they are interested in cooking and seeing how it is done, especially when under the harsh eye of scrutiny and expectations.
8. I will grab their attention by adding funny occurrences throughout the cooking process, as well as a sense of urgency, given that the president will die if they do not serve him his meal by midnight.

Reflection

1. This week went very well for me, as it was extremely smooth and coherent-every assignment was easy and it led me to have a developed, structured story that I just needed to fill in). The only thing that was challenging was figuring out how I wanted my story to flow from location to location (for example, I was confused as to how my two characters were going to interact from two different places, but I figured it out and continued on from there). I feel that Mr. Burr could have added a clear description in order to clarify how to transition from place to place (however, it was still sufficient enough to figure out a solution on my own).
2. The most valuable thing I learned was how to give creativity some structure with certain methods like shotlists, brainstorming, and storyboards. I think this is important because if you can control creativity and give it some structure, it makes it much more efficient (as well as easier to use for your benefit-an example being this project, given that the first two tasks gave my creativity a target, which the allowed it to blossom into an easily 5-pages long screenplay).
3. I feel that my storytelling was great, given that there was a clear purpose and a clear plot. However, I do think that my ending could have been a bit more in depth-I just needed another half of a page). I am extremely proud of my project and hope that anyone that would watch it would enjoy it and say "This person made us an enjoyable film." I think that the overall story and character development went well, but the resolution of the screenplay could have gone better, given that I ran out of space and it lacked depth.
4. I enjoyed this class a lot and appreciated the logical, consistent way it was taught. However, I disliked the slight tone of monotony when it came to the assignments in days 1-3. The assignment were helpful, but were also repetitive. So, a course of action may be to add a different, unique assignment to every week that adds another layer of structure and depth to that week's theme/project. I also think that some teacher examples of the assignments could also be used to help improve the clarity of the assignments-the videos helped, but an extra example would have pushed it to the next level. Other than that, I have no other dislikes or rooms for improvement. Thank you so much, Mr. Burr! Have a good summer!
