<title>One thing I remember is my mom reading a bible for me when I was younger. As a child, it was nice having someone read almost every night for me.</title>

<title>I was never really interested in books as a young kid. I think it was mainly because we had to read whatever the teacher chose for us to read. And most of them are boring in my opinion. However, I did started to show interest and know what to look for in books. One of my favorite book I read in fourth grade was Junie B. Jones by Barbara Park. It was very entertaining and funny. I do remember, I would check out 3-4 books from my classroom to read at night when I can&#39;t sleep.</title>

<title>Not too long after that, I found this book called Geronimo Stilton. It was a book about a quite mouse but he goes through an adventure of horrors many more. This book that I read when I was younger makes me so fascinated by the plot lines. The art of this also helped me with my visualization too. It was a great book to keep me period of time. But unfortunately, I don&#39;t know why but I only read a few of the books. But it is still amazing to read, especially for younger kids. </title>

<title>I also got a free dictionary textbook. I probably used it a few times here and there but I never really used it ever again. I got this when my school we went to a short field trip to the library. I think because it was back then where we mainly focused on physical things rather than electronic devices. Now, I wouldn&#39;t use a physical dictionary to look up books anymore. I would use google. </title>

<title>I also read this book called Island of the Blue Dolphin by Scott O&#39;Dell. I remember listening to the audio of this in class. It was interesting and the fact that it was based off of an American Indian women, it has more of a raw personal emotion in it. Typically as a young kid, I wouldn&#39;t like these type of historical books but it was great to learn about this. It was also very emotional at the same time to read and visualize being left alone. </title>

<title>There was this one book that I read with the class that I did not enjoyed at at all. It was called &quot;Hatched.&quot; It was about this young boy and his survival in a forest after the plane crashed. Thanks to the help of teacher giving us detail information to imagine the scene, I just did not like it. I feel like maybe for those who are into the wilderness and survival, they might enjoy this book. I just found it boring. And it got pretty sleepy at some point. </title>

<title>Moving onto middle school year, that was when I started to have the freedom to read books of my own choice. I discovered that I loved reading young-adult books and coming of age. I started reading books online as well. I eventually moved on from reading novels to comic books such as manga&#39;s. Thanks to that I was able to have fun at the same time. But while I read novels, I developed a habit of writing down any quotes that I liked from the pages. It was one of my favorite thing to do because I can go back and re-read and gain comfort from it. </title>

<title>Not only that I read novels and comics, I also started to read a few poems in my English class. I learned the different genres of poems and even wrote some. I remember one that I read was by Maya Angelou called &quot;Phenomenal Woman.&quot; I remember highlighting key points and digging deeper into the meaning of the poem. I also read some lyrical and haiku poems. Personally, I think I liked haiku because it sounds calming.</title>

<title>In high school, I got the chance to read the book &quot; The Little Prince.&quot; This one is one of my favorite because it shows the innocence of a child. It gives a touch of growing up as an adult, changes, imagination and childhood. I find warming to read and it can also be relatable. It teaches a valuable lesson of understanding and responsibility. </title>

<title>I also got to read &quot; Frederick Douglas&quot; as well. However, I didn&#39;t have much interested in this book. Its interesting to learn about his point of view and the struggle he went through to learn reading and writing though. But I just felt like I didn&#39;t really liked it. I think there were certain parts of the reading that I didn&#39;t understand well enough. I do remember that there was a chapter that was about 10 pages long. Honestly, it felt like the longest time ever for me to finish the chapter. I did some discussions in class about this book, and had an option to choose between this book and other topics for my oral presentation. I mainly focused on the theme of education and compared it to global issues. Despite it being boring to me to read, I found valuable information form Douglas personal life. </title>

<title>Another one of my favorite was a book called &quot;Lazarillo de Tormes.&quot; This book is a Spanish novel based on a kid named Lazarillo and his adventure with his masters. I read it in my Spanish class as an oral presentation. At first, I didn&#39;t think I would like it, but it is amazing! This book goes through the perspective of Lazarro and how he survived his masters at a young age. He criticizes the &quot;religious people&quot; and talks about social class ranks. Its a great book to read about and discuss it too as we can use it to connect it to the real world. One scene that my Spanish teacher told us to prepare for was the scene where Lazarro first master put his face into Lazarro&#39;s mouth to smell for the sausage that he had stolen. It was strange, disgusting, but comical at the same time.</title>

<title>There was this one book by Jacqueline Woodson, a autobiography called &quot;Brown Girl Dreaming.&quot; This book inspired me to live as a passionate person and putting effort into my work. I really liked this book because it is a powerful memoir that Woodson wrote expressing her childhood memories where she grew up. There were also poems that she wrote and was put in the book. I also wrote many of the quotes from this book as well. It&#39;s so inspiring. It was also nice that Woodson added a family picture tree. I really helped to see and understand each person. I also read her other book called &quot;Lena.&quot; It demonstrates a powerful young little girl taking care of her younger sister and running away from their abusive father. Not only that but it also showed friendships. </title>

<title>During distance learning, I read a book called &quot;whisper Man&quot; by Alex North. Reading this has captured my imagination. The story line was just so awesome. That was the moment where I moved on to reading a new genre of suspense, thriller, and horror. The character and the twist was very creepy but I couldn&#39;t help but to continue reading. I am now currently reading his next book called &quot;Shadows.&quot; Similar to his first book but I would say this is even more creepy. The unsolved mystery behind the characters childhood and friends is intriguing. I also really like the different point of views from the characters as well.</title>

<title>Now, some techniques that I use when I am picking out something to read is the cover, reading the summary at the back and randomly reading a few pages. By doing that, It allows me to know a bit more and become interested. Now, I am currently looking for good thriller and suspense books. I want something unexpected and a twisted plotline to read. But now I am also looking to read books that motivates me or talk about self care. I feel like because I am now an adult, well beginning to become one, I would like to read for advice and have a positive mindset.</title>
