Horses enabled the Natives to carry more, travel faster, and hunt better. But horses also had their downside. The natives had never seen them before so they terrified the natives into submission or rendered them unable to combat the very first few times that they had encountered them.

Plantations became popular in the New World after it's discovery due to the perfect conditions for growing sugarcane, which the Europeans loved (plantations were also used for stuff like cash crops and food but sugarcane being the most notorious crop). This led to mass creation of plantations that grew sugarcane but in order to grow and harvest it, the Europeans needed workers. This is when the importation of slaves began. The slaves were bought or captured from Africa and brought to work in the Americas for plantations. The life span of a slave on a plantation was really short though due to the horrible conditions of the work. The lifespan was about 5 years only so this meant that slaves had to be constantly imported.
