Screencastomatic is a very effective tool that I plan to use to record short videos of myself explaining certain French grammar concepts. I understand that some people take longer to comprehend certain language concepts. Therefore, this audio and visual technological tool allows students to pause, rewind and re-watch the lesson. When considering the social and emotional needs of students, I feel that this resource would also allow students who are timid, self-conscious or experience anxiety to still complete an oral French presentation without the stress of an audience.

Kahoot is such a fun and interactive way for students to engage in some friendly competition while at the same time reviewing course content from prior lessons! It is a highly effective diagnostic tool that allows both the teacher and student to evaluate their level of comprehension and to identify concepts that need to be readdressed.

Google Forms is both an efficient and effective program to collect data about students. My Associate Teacher at Louise Arbour distributed a "Getting to Know You" sheet on the first day of school. The student and their guardian were asked to complete the questionnaire. I think Google Form would be an effective tool to conduct these questionnaires to collect pertinent information about the incoming class and get to know the students in order to tailor course content to their interests and strengths.

Google Docs is a wonderful tool that students can use to work collaboratively on a group project. It allows students to all contribute to the project independently at their own convenience. Groups no longer need to meet in person to work on the assignment. The document can also be shared with the teacher so that they are able to see each student's contribution to the project. The program also facilitates communication among members as Google Docs allows you to comment on one another's content. I have used this application to review French dissertations and provide feedback and comments throughout the process.

I would like to have this music playing at the beginning of class to help students get into a routine, aid with classroom management and stress reduction. As an extension, students could find a French song they liked and we could make a classroom playlist. Additionally, students could write and present why they chose the song, provide some background information about the artist and a brief synopsis explaining what the song is about.

In my grade 7 and 8 French Immersion class, students found a news article of their choice by exploring various news websites such as CBC, The Guardian, Toronto Star ect. Upon choosing a news article, students applied their summation skills to complete a graphic organizer to identify the 5 W's in the text and then write a summary of their news article. Students were also responsible for creating a critical thinking question about their article. They then presented their article summaries in small groups and led and engaged in a group discussion in a respectful manner.

This allowed students to review content prior to and after class. Having online access to course content is especially important for students with IEPs. As a result, my Associate Teacher was also able to reduce paper waste and save time on photocopying. Parents were also able to access the site to see what their child was working on in the course.

During my practicums I had students use Padlet as a way to complete Exit Tickets. Exit Tickets are a very useful formative assessment tool. It allows teachers to see if the students truly internalized the concepts presented in the lesson and verify that students are able to effectively apply the course material. It also highlights any concepts that need to be reviewed and identifies those students who may need more support. During practicum, I was shocked to see how many students completed the Exit Ticket incorrectly after appearing to be so confident with the material during the lesson. When using traditional Exit Tickets I have two Exit Ticket piles, one for students who feel positive that they completed the question correctly and one for students who are unsure of their responses. It encourages students to be reflective of their learning and allows the teacher to have a better understanding of how their students perceive their level of ability.

In the past, I have had students engage in a Shared Reading exercise . The students read a French text related to Francophone culture and then complete corresponding Knowledge, Thinking and Application questions based on the text using the Plickers app. I find this program particularly useful because it also provides an Excel spreadsheet of each students' results for each question. This allows me to have a physical copy of every students' results to use for report cards and during parent-teacher interviews. This assists to identify specific areas of growth or concern.
