Horatio, the last man standing, sits down with The Denmark Times

Interviewer - Is Hamlet a hero?

Horatio - Certainly he is. Dear Hamlet had the courage and devotion to acting on the behalf of his father. He had the determination to protect his own honor and maintain his morality. Therefore, I deem my friend worthy of the title.

Interviewer - Why do you think Hamlet was insane by the time he died?

Horatio - It may seem like his insanity was real, but throughout the whole occurrence, he only pretended to be insane. He tried his hardest to do the task assigned by his father.

Interviewer - What will become of Denmark?

Horatio - As you know Fortibras has assumed the throne. As Dear Hamlet did, I trust that my new king will rebuild and restore Denmark to its former glory.

Interviewer - Do you believe that Gertrude deserved to die?

Horatio - I believe that no one deserves to die based on my faith. Although disloyal and impulsive, she was ultimately a victim of Claudius’s manipulation.

Interviewer - What role did Polonius play in everything?

Horatio - Polonius’s actions contributed to a chain reaction. His death was the ultimate reason for Ophelia’s death and was the final straw for Claudius to devise a plan to kill Hamlet.

Interviewer - Do you believe Ophelia committed suicide?

Horatio - I’m uncertain of that. I know that Ophelia had gone mad resulting from the accumulation of a series of unfortunate events. It's possible that she lost the will to live after suffering from her dilemma.

Interviewer - Thank you for your time.

William Shakespeare's Hamlet deals with three revenge plots, involving a son seeking to avenge the death of a father. Revenge causes one to act blindly through anger and hate, rather than with reason. Hamlet sought revenge for the murder of his father against his uncle, the new king Claudius. Similarly, young Fortinbras attempts to avenge his father’s death. However, he almost acts immediately by assembling an army to retrieve the territory his father had lost to King Hamlet. Laertes was willing to avenge his late father with no boundaries upon his actions. He was willing to do whatever was necessary to succeed in his revenge against Hamlet.

Paranoia is a personality disorder defined by unrelenting suspicion and mistrust of others. According to HelpGuide.org, patients with paranoia are "always on guard for signs that someone is trying to threaten, mistreat, or deceive them." In addition, people afflicted with paranoia are "likely to respond with angry outbursts, controlling behavior, or by deflecting the blame onto others." Oftentimes, Hamlet feels that he is being watched. He exhibits signs of paranoia when he confronts his mother as Polonius eavesdrops behind the curtain. Polonius's sudden call for help compels Hamlet to stab him with no indication of remorse. Furthermore, Hamlet repeatedly suspects his friends', Rosencratz and Guildenstern, of spying on him under Claudius's orders. He senses that the pair's task is to learn the cause of his insanity and confronts them. Hamlet is constantly on his guard and in a state of agitated turmoil. As a result, his mental overload causes rash and violent reactions.
