I would hide/bury little trinkets from Lakeshore or from a Montessori company that  spell CVC patterns.  For example, a cup, fan, rug, hat, pig, bug etc. Students would have to match the trinket to a flashcard with the correct CVC word or write the word on a piece of paper for each trinket they found.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Jess Luczynski - <br>You can have the most elaborate center activities; but if you do not set up procedures and expectations with students it won't do any good! <br><br>Teach/model students what you want them to; have students model for the group what you expect and then slowly release them.  Throwing students into a center without expectations won't get the results you're hoping for.  <br><br>Example: library center<br>I go to the classroom library I model how to get a good book, how to sit, how to read it, how to put it back in the correct place , how to get a new book and when the bell rings (however you transition) how to clean and line up.  The next day, we review what I did, but have a few students model in front of the class and then we talk about it.  The next day add a few more students at a time to model and talk about what students saw.  Continue this as you see needed, then once you think they're ready practice in a center group for 3-5 minutes as they get the hang of it, gradually add more time. <br><br>This may take some time in the beginning, but it will pay off.</div>]]></description>
