Treatment for those with Schizoid Personality Disorder can be difficult because those with the disorder probably won't seek treatment for the disorder, and because it may be hard to form a lasting relationship with a therapist. The isolating nature of the disorder also can make it harder to find support and assistance. Medications may be used to treat some of the symptoms, but can't be used for the disorder itself.
Unfortunately the disorder is chronic and lifelong, although some types of treatment can lead to a functional life for the affected.
