I find it very crazy and almost disturbing that the US has fallen this far behind other nations in STEM Knowledge and Research over the last 10-20 years. There really wasn't much in this article that surprised me. It was no surprise that STEM careers pay much higher and are in much greater demand than ever before but what is kind of shocking is a nation that doesn't seem to be keeping up with the world in STEM education and research.

It is kind of sad to think that according to some studies the US ranks 17th in Science and 25th in math! Equally sad was the section that said that only about 60-70 percent of 4th - 12 graders scored at or above a "basic" level of science and that number was going down the older the grade.

I agree it's time for the US to get back in the game. To think that in 25 years the US has gone from being the top nation in number of high school and college graduates to 20th and 16th is just sad and it's time to do something about it. I admit I'm not exactly the first to jump at the sound of STEM learning because I struggled at math for many years, but I do love science and would love to be a part of increasing learning in this field.
