The increased production of coal and iron was a result of both the dynasties hard work. They had figured out that the coal they were producing could be used as fuel when it was burned. The chinese soon thought of the idea to use this coal they were producing as fuel to melt the iron they were producing. They used this to create, develop, and innovate the weapons that were used in the Song dynasty's army, consisting of over 1,000,000 men, with swords, arrows, and amor. They also decided to use the melted iron to make tools, needles, shovels, stoves, and bridges. This innovation impacted history by making the wars more gruesome and bloody and is still used today as a method to make these tools and weapons and they used the past weapons made as a base materials to improve them over time.

The Chinese civilizations were one of the first civilizations to use paper money, which was once referred to as "flying money" because the money was light enough to float away. Before this invention, the Chinese civilizations used copper coins, which became rare, this influenced the change to paper money. Later, the government began printing and issuing money as the official currency. This is still used as a major form of money in all parts of the world today and it still is.
