I went to the movies on Tuesday to watch Dune, a science fiction movie directed by Denis Villeneuve. It is based on the 1965 novel. I haven't read the book so I did not know what to expect.

I really liked two of Denis Villeneuve's other movies : Arrival and Blade runner 2049 and I found it interesting that some shots of Dune were very similar to some shots of those two movies.

The movie has some spectacular and beautiful shots, with nice choices of colors, that look like paintings. The story is intriguing and I was immersed in the movie's universe.
It is an intense and epic experience to see on the big screen !

Last Sunday I went to the movies to see the French movie Boîte Noire directed by Yann Gozlan.

It tells the story of a man with an incredible ear who investigates a mysterious and shady crash of a plane killing all of its passengers by listening to the black box of the plane.

I really enjoyed it and found it very exciting. This brilliant thriller will take you by the guts for the whole of the movie ! You truly feel the characters frustration to discover the truth about the plane crash and feel his growing paranoia. As the story goes on and the truth reveals itself bit by bit, the movie really takes you on an intense ride until the very end. Overall, I really liked the concept of the movie. I highly recommend this movie for anyone who seeks a good thrill !

I would like to share with you an album made by Tom Misch and Yussef Dayes that was released last year. Tom Misch is a british singer, producer and guitarist and Yussef Dayes is a british jazz drummer. I like to listen to this album when I work or when I commute because it includes very chill songs and a lot of instrumental parts.

The genre of this album is very difficult to define (hence its name "What Kinda Music"). It moves through electronic music to jazz to hip hop etc.

The duo invited some of their friends from the british jazz scene like the saxophonist Kaidi Akinnibi or the bassist Rocco Palladino. I particularly appreciate that a lot of tracks sound dreamy and refreshing. Here is a link to listen to the album on youtube :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x30wgUCt72k&list=PL2wXweDr-uPgsFJ2e8MO8CMGxUXLJtoj_

Super smash bros ultimate is a really fun fighting video game. The roster of characters in this game is absolutely huge. There is a lot of popular characters from Nintendo games such as Mario, Pikachu or Link. Some characters come from other publishers. Having all these video game icons in one game is truly amazing. It is probably the biggest video game crossover ever.

This game is easy to pick up but hard to master. This is why it is a game that everyone can play and enjoy.

This week I watched at home the stop motion animated movie Fantastic Mr. Fox directed by Wes Anderson. It is based on the book of Roald Dahl.

The movie is about Ms and Mr Fox who were living a happy life until Mr Fox decided to steal from three dangerous farmers.

I really liked it and I liked how some shots look like paintings or pictures. Wes Anderson's style is easily recognizable even in an animated movie. A beautiful feel-good movie to watch.

This week I would like to talk about one of my favorite Miyazaki's movies : Porco Rosso. It was published in 1992 and it tells the story of a freelance bounty hunter who is a sort of man-pig chasing air pirates in the Adriatic Sea.

It is a "feel good" movie even though it tackles very serious themes like war, the role of women in society, etc.

This animated movie has an atmosphere and is in my opinion underrated compared to Miyazaki's other movies.

Twin Peaks

Today, I would like to talk about one of my favorite tv series : Twin Peaks.

Created by David Lynch and Mark Frost, it is one of the most iconic and greatest tv shows of the 90’s, and of all time !

It all starts when Laura Palmer ; the town’s sweetheart and homecoming queen ; is found dead on the shore of the river. FBI Spécial Agent Dale Cooper (played by a young Kyle MacLachlan) arrives to Twin Peaks to investigate this unimaginable and dark tragedy. Flirting between the supernatural, the mystical, the melodrama and the horror genre, Twin Peaks will definitely give you chills like no other show does. As the story and the characters unveil themselves, it all just gets more and more bizarre leaving you conspiring, intrigued and thrilled. The mystery behind the story and the town’s habitants is just fantastically narrated. Twin Peaks’ charm really relies on this strange and baffling atmosphere that will keep you on the edge of your seat during the entirety of the two seasons. As far as police drama and thriller series goes, Twin Peaks is an absolute must !
