One big cause of rubbish in the oceans is due to mass amalgamation of pollution on land which eventually flows to the ocean, 80% which, is contributed by only 20 countries. These countries are China, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam and Sri Lanka.

The cause of this is mostly due to over population and inequalities to these countries and those in the west.

The consequences of pollution are large and many, things that we haven't dealt with before or built up defenses against. Some of these consequences include;

1. Decreased air qualities
Result in the decrease of human and animal health, leading to things like acid rain

2. Ozone layer depletion
Reduction in the earth's protection from the sun

3. Infertile land
Result in crops being unable to grow due to sick land and water

These consequences are only scraping the surface of the things that would affect us if our world gets any sicker than it is.
