Summary:It was a plan to donate millions to war torn European countries so they wouldn’t rely on the Soviet Union for aid and stay democratic.

Impact:It created an economic miracle in Western Europe after the war and afterwords Western European industries were producing twice as much as they had before and increased trade and caused a post war economic boom.

Summary:12 countries along with other states that allied themselves with democracy wanted to form an alliance to combat the Soviet Union in case of an attack or war.

Impact:The Soviet Union ended up making their own allied force to combat nation instead of war and ended up spreading democracy to other small countries.

Impact:The NATO and Warsaw pact were created causing great tension in the heat of battle

Summary:The Soviet union created an alliance with communist countries to counterattack NATO in case of an attack.

1959-1962

There was a plan to train a group of Cuban exiles that lived in America for an invasion in Cuba. The goal was to overthrow Fidel Castro because the US distrusted Castro. The Cubans fought back.

This made Castro seem like a strong communist leader and strengthened his relationship with the Soviet Union.

Summary:President Truman wanted to get food and supplies to people in need in Berlin because due to Joseph Stalin creating a wall to block off western influence and trade which left people desperate for food and supplies.

Impact:Due to the airlift and supplies Joseph Stalin riddled Berlin if the wall bringing back influence and helping the people of Berlin

Impact:

1962

Kennedy warned Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev to keep the Soviets weapons away from Cuba. They were on the brink of Nuclear War from the tension, but the Soviet premier agreed to keep their missiles away from Cuba. The US agreed to never invade Cuba in return.

Fidel Castro felt humiliated by the Soviet Union's retreat, which would lead to Khrushchev's fall from power.

1954-1974

After Vietnam was freed from French colonial rule, Vietnam was split into two for peace. The North were communists and the South were non-communists. A civil war erupted for control over South Vietnam. The US fought for the domino theory and containment to end communism.

In the end, South Vietnam fell into communism.

Summary:A communist group in relation to the Soviet union tried to overthrow Greece and they were given aid for the Soviet union America believed that they should stop the spread of communism and assist any country trying to fight back known as the Truman doctrine which led to Greece joining NATO after besting the communist group.

Impact:

Greece ended up joining NATO and stopping the spread of communism.

1957

Sputnik was a satellite that revealed that the Russians were more superior when it came to technology. This led to a Space Race to see who was more superior.

American scientists worked hard to reach their goal of putting a man on the moon.

1957-1969

The Americans wanted to win the Space Race. They believed that it would show a sign of Cold War dominance.

Apollo 11 was the first spaceflight that led humans to the moon. Billions of dollars went into science space research for this project.

Summary:Germany was split into two halves and an iron curtain covered Berlin and split Berlin into democracy and communism and therefore most Berlin residents preferred democracy and Stalin didn't like that fact and created a wall and covered it in barbwire with soldiers to prevent people from escaping to the pro democracy side.

Impact:

The democracy side was favorable and gained supporters and wanted to ride Germany of the brutal communist side

1949-1972

The Communist Party of China gained power which caused tension between China and the US. Detente eased the Cold War tensions.

Nixon's visit drove a wedge between the Soviet Union and China, which weakened the Soviet Union.

Year:1950

Summary: Korea was split in half half owned by the soviets and the other owned by the U.S Kim Il Sung the president of the north which is owned by the soviets decided to launch a surprise attack on the south which is owned by the U.S and the U.S instantly sends tropps to support the south and basically the U.S and U.S.S.R had a proxy war through the north and south

Impact:The fighting ends with a ceasefire keeping the south and north divided with communist and democracy

1989-1990

The Cold War began to thaw and citizens were allowed to cross the border. 2 million people tore the wall down and Berlin was united again.
