Sound Effect</p><p>The Vivo Commercial utilized sound effects to convey the message of their advertisement. In the audio, sound effects of Christmas bells, children laughing, and choir singing could be heard in order to interpret the sounds that Stephen Curry was describing. Through the sound effects, we are being immersed into the commercial and we feel more connected as those sound effects are the familiar sounds of Christmas. It made us more engage to listen to the information being said about the product.</p><p><br></p><p>2. Music</p><p>From the commercial, the song, “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” was played. This is a popular song during the holiday season which also matches the theme of the commercial since it aims to target the “Vivo Christmas” spirit. Therefore, using a familiar and popular song that can be recognized by many will be an effective way of getting engagements from the listeners and consumers. Additionally, the instrumental for “Jingle Bell Rock” also a popular tune was utilized towards the end of the commercial where Stephen Curry was informing about the product. This is an effective way of keeping the attention of the audience.</p><p><br></p><p><strong><mark>PRINCIPLES</mark></strong>:</p><p>1. Mixing</p><p>The commercial ensures that different sound elements such as background music, sound effects, and dialogue are distinct and well-balanced. The sound effects, like family laughter and children singing, are kept separate from the man’s voice to maintain clarity and highlight the message. Toward the end, when "Jingle Bell Rock" plays simultaneously with the man's voice, the background music is carefully mixed to avoid overpowering the dialogue. This ensures that the message remains clear and easy to understand. The man’s voice is also clear and emphasized, making the advertisement digestible and ensuring the product's message is delivered effectively.</p><p><br></p><p>2. Transition</p><p>The commercial smoothly shifts between different sound elements, such as laughter, singing, and the Christmas instrumental, to maintain a natural and engaging flow. When the product is introduced, the transition to "Jingle Bell Rock" signals a shift in focus, subtly emphasizing Vivo without making the change too abrupt or distracting.</p><p><br></p><p>3. Pace</p><p>The commercial maintains a well-structured pace, ensuring a smooth flow from one element to the next. At the start, the pacing is warm and inviting, with sounds of family laughter, children singing, and Christmas instruments creating a cozy, festive atmosphere. As the commercial progresses, the transition to "Jingle Bell Rock" when introducing Vivo subtly increases energy, making the message more engaging. Overall, the pace is well thought out, it goes from calmer tone to climax.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>GUIDE QUESTIONS:</p><p><br></p><p>1. The Vivo commercial effectively communicated its product benefits by marketing and associating itself as a phone used with positive emotions and experiences. The brand explains its ability to capture clear selfies, highlighting its 24-megapixel front camera, which can be used in events such as family reunions at Christmas. Vivo also mentioned its all-screen display feature and the convenience of face ID access. Overall, Vivo presents itself as a phone which can be used during holiday seasons.</p><p><br></p><p>2. Both the sound effects and background music are correctly used in the video, helping set a festive atmosphere. The Christmas bells, children's singing, and laughter all show joy and togetherness. Moreover, the cheerful background music matches the mood, ending with Stephen Curry's inviting message for the viewers. All of these factors focus on the spirit of Christmas and help promote the Vivo brand, thus making the advertisement more engaging.</p><p><br></p><p>3. At some point, the advertisement may be effective for listeners because it includes a sample audio feature from the phone being promoted, which serves as a strong marketing strategy. However, it may also be ineffective due to the unclear and difficult to understand delivery of the voice actor’s speech.</p>]]></description>

The camera work focused on Ping, the protagonist while he tries to manage his struggles in life and education. The idea of the motion path in this film wants us to understand Ping’s background and his difficulties in working tirelessly during the nights to afford starting his school project. It helped us sympathize with him and feel the underlying sorrowful emotions within his life. Even so, Ping did not give up and continued striving for his dream. In a way, the motion path of the film made us feel like we are with Ping in his journey to achieve his dream.</p><p><br></p><p>2. <strong>Timing</strong></p><p>“Project ni Ping” only utilized 3 minutes to convey the message that even when we are at the lowest point of our life, giving up is not the answer. The short film had felt longer as we watched the journey of Ping working every night to be able to afford his project. Additionally, during the beginning of the film, the teacher berated Ping and told him he had been repeating 7th grade for 3 years as he cannot accomplish his project, giving us a reference and time frame on how long Ping has been saving up to work on his project. In the perspective of the viewers and even his classmates, 3 years is a long time.</p><p><br></p><p>3. <strong>Speed</strong></p><p>During the beginning of the short film, it was slow paced, introducing us to the classroom setting as well as the general context of the story. It had us hooked to know why Ping, the main character was disengaged in class to the point of his teacher calling him out. Later on, the context beneath his disengagement was revealed. It took us with Ping and how he struggled financially to provide for his studies. It progressively provided us sufficient details on Ping’s life and difficulties. However, since it was a short film, it was a bit open-ended and ambiguous during the end. Nevertheless, with the final dialogue, we were given a clue that Ping somehow managed and never gave up on saving for his project.</p><p><br></p><p><strong><em><mark>PRINCIPLES</mark></em></strong></p><p><br></p><p>1. <strong>Speed, Direction, and Timing </strong>- These three contribute significantly to the short film’s storytelling and emotional impact. Though the short film is direct to the point, it has a slower pacing to present emotional scenes, allowing the viewers to absorb what they are watching. The movement of both the character and the camera follows a clear visual storytelling. The camera pans in the scenes are smooth, which guides the viewers’ attention naturally. </p><p><br></p><p>2. <strong>Transition</strong> - The short film has seamless transitions that effectively enhance the storytelling and maintain viewer engagement. The fade-in and fade-outs were used to emphasize depth in storytelling. Each cuts have similar visual elements that helped connect two different shots, making it clear to the viewers. </p><p><br></p><p>3. <strong>Sound and color -</strong> Sound and color were effectively utilized in this short film. The characters’ voices are clear, while the film uses appropriate background music to amplify the emotions felt in the scenes. There are also subtle sound effects, such as environmental and street sounds, which make it realistic and natural. For color, the film uses warm and soft colors in the opening scene to create an inviting and relatable atmosphere, especially in a school setting. However, as the film progresses, the color grading shifts to a cooler and more muted tone. The overall color palette is well-balanced, maintaining a natural yet cinematic feel throughout the film.</p><p><br></p><p><strong><em><mark>GUIDE QUESTIONS</mark></em></strong></p><p><br></p><p>1. The short film effectively utilizes various camera shots, angles, and movements to enhance the emotional depth of the story. Close-ups and extreme close-ups capture the characters' facial expressions, emphasizing their emotion whether it is the teacher’s frustration or Ping’s exhaustion. Medium and long shots provide context to the classroom setting and Ping’s environment, while extreme long shots highlight his struggle as he works late into the night. The camera angles also play a significant role in shaping the audience’s perception. Eye-level shots make the scenes feel natural and relatable, while high-angle shots depict Ping as small and powerless in the face of his struggles. In contrast, low-angle shots can emphasize moments of resilience or struggle, making the audience empathize with his situation. Camera movements such as panning and tilt shots add dynamism, particularly in moments of tension or revelation. The zoom technique likely helps to draw attention to critical moments, such as Ping’s tired eyes or the realization of his hardships. These camera techniques significantly impact the scenes by shaping how the audience perceives the story and connects with the character’s emotions. The combination of close-ups and zooms allows viewers to feel Ping’s exhaustion and despair, while the varied angles subtly communicate his vulnerability and resilience. The dark lighting represents the boy's struggles, while lighter scenes emphasize moments of hope, such as his candies, symbolizing hard work. Moreover, the clear, crisp dialogue makes each word impactful, especially during the teacher's scolding. Background sounds of the classroom and street traffic create a realistic setting, while thudding sounds suggest the weight of his responsibilities. Together, the film's lighting and sound show that one's potential is not only measured by academic performance but also by practical skills and determination.</p><p><br></p><p>3. The short film effectively engages its audience through a well-developed story that evokes emotions and sustains attention. Its compelling narrative structure, along with strong character development, allows viewers to connect deeply with the film.</p><p>Additionally, various motion media techniques enhance its impact. The use of fade transitions provides smooth scene changes, maintaining the film’s flow. Point-of-view editing immerses the audience by presenting scenes from a character’s perspective, fostering a deeper emotional connection. Montages effectively condense time and highlight key moments, enhancing storytelling efficiency and emotional buildup.</p>]]></description>
