I used to think... VR stands for Virtual Reality and creates simulated experiences. In music class, it could be a fun way for students to virtually visit concert halls or travel to different parts of the world to experience diverse musical styles.

Now I think... VR has the potential to be much more than just a virtual field trip! After the workshop, I can see how VR could be used to create interactive music experiences. Imagine students learning about different instruments by virtually holding and playing them in a VR orchestra! VR could also be a powerful tool for composing music, allowing students to hear their creations come to life in a virtual concert hall.

I used to think that VR was untapped potential material for great interactive language classes and that its role in education was only just developing.

Now I still think the same, but I also think that it's a great way to encourage more students (all?) to empathize with (virtual) people and develop creative/critical thinking skills in a different way.

I used to think that VR was an opportunity to relate to experiences I wouldn’t normally have a chance to appreciate.

I now know that it helps to develop empathy, supports faster skills acquisition and results in the learner being significantly more emotionally involved with the experience situation. VR learners are also more likely to take action as a result of the experience.
