<title>Race Video: Choice 3-Not all of our students are starting the day off at the same point just like the kids weren&#39;t starting the race from the same starting point. The video highlighted that not all our students have the same opportunities and there is not anything they could have done to prevent or change that. This is important to remember with everything we do. Our students don&#39;t have the same experiences or opportunities. They can&#39;t contribute to our lessons in the same way. </title>

<title>The race video. What a great and powerful illustration. I often leaned on the &quot;born on second base&quot; image of a baseball game where we are all trying to get home. This was much more impactful. (5th grade math).</title>

<title>National Museum of African American History and Culture shares the importance of community building. When we intentionally create a community for the purpose of a shared goal we deepen relationships and create a feeling of belonging. One example of a community in our school is Book Club. Students join this club because they share an interest in reading a chosen novel. </title>

<title>4th Grade - All Subject. &quot; The Race&quot; After watching this, I see the connection between the race and race. Simply watching the faces, mannerisms, and emotions of the kids involved said it all. The fortunate students were having fun, smiling, and looking forward to the &quot;race.&quot; The less fortunate students were looking around, upset, and defeated even before the race started. It was over before it started. How do we level that starting line (in our classrooms and life)? </title>

<title>Kids, even when they are young, understand the concept of racism and prejudice. Even though it can be a hard or uncomfortable situation to discuss, kids have an open mind and want to learn about the differences of others. In turn, kids begin to form ideas about racism at an extremely young age and this is why it is so important for us to discuss racism and diversity in our classrooms at school....to help our students form a positive mindset about how to celebrate others&#39; differences. esl</title>

Lots of book ideas to share with our students that can also connect to SS topics or Journey&#39;s Stories. It&#39;s important they know how unfair the history of our country was and still is for certain groups. </title>

<title>The race video demonstrates how advantages in society go ignorantly unrecognized and are taken for granted by those who have them. It also ties into the ideology that collectively we have to develop a better sense of community building, race history, and how systems of oppression impact our students. While NPSD does a nice job of providing equality, equity for our school-dependent students is a much larger undertaking that requires more than just grit theory. </title>

<title>Topics like racial equality and equity cannot be left as “add-in” pieces to lessons here and there within the curriculum or simply discussed and explored in PD. Being an inclusion school it can sometimes be difficult for the students who don&#39;t understand physical, social, emotional, invisible and visible disabilities. It confirmed my thinking that we need todo more so all students feel accepted. </title>

<title>The video on disabilities confirmed my thoughts and feelings about the need to educate everyone on how people may feel (physically, and emotionally) living with a disability, especially if you can&#39;t see the disability. Empathy needs to be taught at times, it does not come easily for everyone. Children have questions and we are not given the time to explore these questions to help them understand what is happening to people with invisible disabilities. We need to listen and encourage the students to ask questions and not pretend this is normal and just ignore. </title>

<title> watch Netflix 7 yards to show students who do have physical disabilities to encourage them that they can do things that they may think they may never be able to do, It would also be great for the students who struggle with social, emotional disabilities to see how people over come these adversities and have a full life. </title>

<title>The spark I found this afternoon was in the Disability as a Form of Diversity. As an educator I see that there is a need for educating all students in invisible disability as well as disability. Being an inclusion school it can sometimes be difficult for the students who don&#39;t understand physical, social, emotional, invisible and visible disabilities. It confirmed my thinking that we need todo more so all students feel accepted. </title>
