Being a college athlete takes a lot of time, work, and dedication. According to an article Jake New on the insidehighered website “Most college athletes say they spend as much or more time on sports during the off-season as they do during the season, leaving them little time for common college student activities like studying, internships and part-time jobs”. I believe college athletes should be paid because, college athletes are working a full-time job plus overtime. Most athletes are injured before they even make it to the professionals. Graduating with a college degree doesn’t guarantee them an income after college. Lastly, it would give them extra money to pay for expenses that their scholarship doesn’t cover.

Most athletic programs can't afford to pay athletes on their own, so the NCAA and their executives need to figure out a way to start compensating their golden geese. Athletes earn their schools hundreds of thousands of dollars, increase enrollment, and if they do well, provide a recruiting piece for generations.
